I saw he made a million dollars over there, so I'm not sure how he could have a 90% paycut if he makes a roster. Practice Squad. Right. Hayden Smith is a rugby guy that was on the Jets and spent a year on the practice squad. Though that guy wasn't nearly the star in rubgy that this Jarryd Hayne is.
So apparently this big Australian Rugby star is quitting the NRL to come to the NFL. It's likely to be a massive pay cut for him (up to 90%). Apparently the Seahawks are the team most talked about with regards to him. He's hoping to get signed in the offseason, and will be training in the interim. 6'2", 220lbs...only experience playing American football is playing video games. http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/jarryd-hayne-quits-nrl-to-pursue-nfl-career-20141014-1167mn.html
Is that average length that much different than the average length of other sports? Seems about the same as the NFL. I'd just venture to say that NFL game times vary a lot less in length than MLB does.
Bernstein is getting a big kick out of this...and rightly so... http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/11694655/derrick-rose-new-player-new-man-ready-end-cycle-injuries
I'd have guessed that Jones and Sharpton would've had better scores, but then, I guess in comparison to our typical linebacker scores, they were great. Ooof. Mills. Enjoy your last season as a starter, bro.
So did Sharpton jump DJ Williams on the depth chart or does he have a multiple week injury? Sharpton seemed to be a lot better out there, but I'm not remotely an expert on that kind of thing. I just know that I saw him a lot more than I ever see Williams.
Matt Spiegel is suggesting this morning that we have Sharpton continue to make the defensive calls, and let Briggs just worry about his own assignment. I think that's potentially a very good idea.
Man...there's nothing quite like a safety that's frequently concussed and with two bad shoulders. Can't beat it. He's played really well though. Seems like a good time to get him a couple weeks off. Can't keep letting him go out there and get hurt every week. Give him thru the bye week to heal up. Exactly. He's been by far the Bears best safety. I wasn't criticizing his play. Just his fragility.
