  1. Maybe they'll fumble the snap on the kick... Nah...that'd never happen.
  2. Yeah, the Bears RB ranking was my beef.
  3. Unfortunately I'm not able to find anywhere that keeps track of tipped passes.
  4. Brees has proven he can find passing lanes. Rex gets his passes tipped on a relatively frequent basis.
  5. Chiefs Seahawks Jets Eagles
  6. Any word on Jacque Jones? Think he's gonna be a Cub when the season starts?
  7. Ok Goony, I'll admit maybe I'm being overly critical of him. He has gotten the best out of a receiving core that wasn't highly thought of (although I think through this whole "Bad Rex" frenzy, the receivers have really gotten off lightly. They miss a break on a timing route and all of a sudden it looks like Rex is clueless.) However I still think Turner has some 2 glaring weaknesses. 1) Adaptability. I don't think he adjusts well to defenses doing the unexpected. If Rex gets flustered in the first half because of something the defense is doing, I don't see Turner changing the gameplan at the half in a way that helps Rex be in a better position to succeed. 2) Predictability. I don't think Turner does a very good job varying week to week to keep defenses on their toes. Anyway, I imagine it's all a moot point, because I don't think he'll get the Miami job.
  8. This would be the only reason I would be upset about Turner leaving. I'm just really underwhelmed by his playcalling. I'm not enamored by it, but there's still a part of me that's astonished everytime they complete a 20 yard pass. Turner has brought in the only legit NFL offense for the Bears since the 80's. Cubs fans have been conditioned that since we're usually so bad, that mediocrity is improvement. But Goony, you love to argue that Cubs fans shouldn't be happy about mediocrity, they should expect more. How is that different than this situation? We've had some terrible offenses in the past, no doubt. And it's improved for sure. But as fans don't we have a right to expect more than a mediocre offense? I'm not sure who I'd want to bring in, as I'm not really an expert on all all of the NFL coordinators and whatnot, but while the offense is most definitely improved, there are some jaw droppingly dumb calls made and it frustrates me. For example, we'll have success running the ball, then suddenly have to punt because we decided to throw 3 straight times. Completing the occasional long pass is nice, but I'd much rather see a game plan that attacks an opponents weaknesses, and I just don't see Turner having been able to do that.
  9. This would be the only reason I would be upset about Turner leaving. I'm just really underwhelmed by his playcalling.
  10. Sportsnite last night said that Miami has requested permission to speak with Ron Turner about their head coaching position. Please let this happen. I'm not a fan of Turner.
  11. ESPN has a poll asking if Griese or Grossman gives the Bears a better shot at the superbowl. Griese has 57% of the vote after about 850 votes.
  12. I'm torn...football should always be on a Sunday...it just fits there, but if the game is Saturday, it would have some benefits. I tend to stay up late the night after a game watching highlights shows and whatnot all night...that will be much easier with another day off the next day. Although the game being on Saturday will completely throw my body clock off.
  13. Oh and for the record, one of the things I really like about Rex is his honesty about his performances.
  14. This is a really interesting article. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-070103haugh,1,7684027.column?coll=cs-home-headlines So I went back and looked at Rex's bad games, which I'm being very generous in putting his "bad games" at anything with a 60 passer rating or lower. That eliminates the first Minnesota game, as he had moments in that game where he performed well. Arizona - 10.2 Miami - 36.8 New England - 23.6 Minnesota - 1.3 Green Bay - 0.0 With the exception of New England, is it possible that Rex just wasn't "up" for those games? He took them too softly? While I hesitate to call that a good thing, it might be as far as going into the playoffs. He won't be looking over anyone in the playoffs I would hope. EDIT: Sorry for re-quoting that article. I should read before posting.
  15. How many Bears fans hold out hope for a Super Bowl? It seems like most are predicting a 1-and-done or a loss to the Saints/Eagles. I do.
  16. Wow...Rex is clearly a polarizing topic.
  17. Would you say that they were, what, 11-5 last year despite Kyle Orton? Orton didn't have 7 games with a 100+ passer rating.
  18. Time for some ESPN hijinks: You'd think the Saints hadn't lost this season, much less lost 6 times. Oh yeah Mark, and none of those other NFC teams have flaws. And the best part: The running game is the only thing consistent on this offense! Hilarious.
  19. I was wondering why Nocioni hadn't had a lot of playing time the last couple of games...so I went and looked up his stats on ESPN and saw this note:
  20. Agreed. And I thought Zabransky came across as annoyingly cocky. I know it was an emotional game and I'm sure there was a lot of euphoria and whatnot, but Ian Johnson handled the question a lot better.
  21. A dominant run game with Benson will keep the Bears offense on the field, and the opponents offense off the field. Except I don't see Lovie giving Jones the back seat to Benson in the playoffs. Benson might get more carries after a nice game at GB, but I'll bet Jones gets the bulk of the action. That might depend on the weather, too, and which team they get. If the weather's lousy, they might run the ball more that usual. Then I'm hoping for lousy weather.
  22. Wow, very tough schedule. Yeah, it's been posted in other Bears threads in a little more detail...which games are home and away... It's certainly tougher than this year without a doubt.
  23. How many baseball related posts do you make a day, seriously. Three? :hsughwiggle: :D So three more than you, right??? 8-)
  24. Chris Petersen for Bears Offensive Coordinator! And I'm not even talking about the trick plays.
  25. I don't know about that. OK had 12 games of film on Boise State that was filled with trick plays to watch, and they still got beat by a hook and ladder, an option pass, and a statue of liberty. None of those trick plays are exactly new. Not to mention that until about 4 mins left in the 3rd quarter, Boise State was up 28-10 and hadn't run hardly any trick plays at all. They only used the trick plays once the defense was exhausted.
