Who cares? If we play like we're supposed to have been playing all year, we're golden. I'm so tired of everything they try ending up all golden for them. You know what?...touché. But in reality, it's just an excellent coaching staff down there.

I understand where you're both coming from, as far as outs being precious. But I can't change my mind on this...agree to disagree? I've always just been a fan of bunts (in good context), hit and runs, hitting to the right side, the small things. Obviously they should be used in moderation. But putting pressure on an opposing teams' defense is an unquantifiable thing, and it does make a difference. Add to that that we face a young pitcher tonight, prone to panicking probably, and small ball seems even more productive in my opinion. But we all want the Cubs to win, bottom line, and we NEED to at least take one game in this hell hole of a stadium. I got money on this game, too. Please be good Z and not bad Z. Go Cubs!!

The #2 spot is more than just OBP...he needs to be able to hit and run, hit to the right side with a runner on second and less than two outs, bunt, etc etc. He obviously feels comfortable putting Blanco there if Theriot's not. Has nothing to do with being a SS. no one needs to hit and run, ever Why not? This team hits into quite a bit of DP's it seems. And also, I love aggressiveness on the basepaths....putting pressure on the opponents defense...we never do either of those things.

I wouldn't be in favor of this anyway. Fuku's value is increased batting leadoff and playing excellent defense in CF. I think acquiring a 2B that can actually be adequate offensively would help a lot more. Or another good arm for the pen.
