    Jason Dubois

Two points of interest to those who didn't see the game. Jason's triple went opposite field into the well. And, his homer went an estimated 440' to staight away center (maybe a little to the right). Not shabby.
  2. I want in on this. IMB and I will do a co-chat. The Universe: thoughts? I'd rather lick antifreeze than be subjected to that.
  3. Didn't Mongo use the colloquialism, "have some speaks with" rather than "chat"? LOL! I'll always remember Hernandez stewing at home plate, arms folded and glaring up at the booth.
  4. Sorry. I can't give Hendry nearly the credit for this that you can. He had Littlefield and a cash strapped organization by the short hairs and two gaping holes at CF and 3B. It was an obvious move IMO. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve credit for pulling the trigger and not being forced to include more prospects, but I just refuse to gush about it.

As a baseball insider, despite the "Hush Order" mandated from the Commissioner, do you get the sense that baseball is worried about the steroid issue or that it simply hopes it will again blow over? As an avid fan, this issue truly shakes my faith in the game, and while there are those who believe that it doesn't matter if guys are juicing, I think the vast majority of fans are outraged, or at least distressed, by players' (i.e. Fehr's) responses to this issue. Where do most Cubs fall on this issue, if you know.

Bruce, In the off season, was there much talk off getting rid of the shortest, worst third base coach in the majors, Wendell Kim? I heard some rumblings, but they were quickly quelled. Do you have any additional insight? In that same vein, while loyalty is often perceived as good, do you see Dusty's loyalty to some coaches (Kim, Sarge, etc.) and players (Lenny Harris, Eric Karros, Alf, etc.) as a character flaw/hinderance?

Bruce, As a big fan of the frankness with which you write your stories, I was hoping that you could give me some insight into problems you encounter as a beat writer. How much, if at all, are your stories affected by the relationship you must maintain with Dusty and the players? Along those same lines, how would you best characterize Dusty's quirky answers to reporters: a) having fun with the reporters, b) intentionally evasive, or c) curiously if not cluelessly off point. Thanks in advance for your anticipated response.
  8. Are you serious? I hadn't heard this at all.
  9. Well, I really hope you start feeling more comfortable here soon. Once you get used to the format, its a great place and your comments could certainly add to an already knowledgable base here.
  10. Wastra, ya lurker, I haven't heard from you in a long time. The few times I've checked out ESPN, I haven't even seen you wading through the trolls. Busy working?
  11. BTW, Raw, that was a great excerpt you provided. I can't remember whether it was here or on "the other site", but I knew at that point that Bobby Hill was gone. While you didn't say it, the information you conveyed was so descriptive that it was a fairly easy conclusion.
  12. Hoops, not only do you deserve the ticket, but I can't think of another poster I would like to go. For selfish reasons, I think you are a great choice as will most likely be able to dig up even more info while at the convention. Have a good time, my friend. Drop a little knowledge on us upon your return. Enjoy the weekend.
