  1. im just annoyed marmol and wood pitched close to 40 pitches today
  2. Are we going to give wcf another... because I would like to be a big post count kind of guy over there.
  3. It never made sense. That draft was so weird. They were so proud of their SB run and so cocky that it seemed they were just drafting for depth and completely ignoring the need to constantly build for the future. I still remember how furious we all were when they didn't pick a olineman in the first day. I was thinking, why roll the dice? Ugoh would be awesome right now.
  4. his cap number was ridiculous for his production. plus zach bowman has played really well.
  5. First round picks like Olson shouldn't be sharing time. They should also be able to block. He is always going to have a quick guy on him because whenever he is in the game, you know he isn't there to block. he isnt "sharing" time because he cant block, he is sharing time because he and dez clark are their two best receivers and both need to be on the field. this olson cant block thing is a myth. No it's not a myth. They had to draft a blocking TE because Olson can't do it. If Clark is better, then it was a mistake to draft him. First rounders aren't supposed to share time. Even if two TEs are on the field at the same time, Olson should be getting more time than Clark was at his draft position. Are you pulling this out of the air? None of what you said is contrived from actual fact. 1) Kellen davis isnt a BLOCKING te by any stretch, he is just a tight end, an athletic tight end at that who like Olson isnt known for his blocking. Also, they didn't HAVE to draft a "blocking" tight end, they just drafted tight end who has the ability to be a good player past his draft slot. All they NEEDED was a 3rd te because gilmore left, and they had none on the roster. 2) "first rounders aren't supposed to share time" isnt even close to true. It all depends on the position. TE in this offense is similar to WR, DE, DT, CB. Two or more of them are on the field at one time, and it does not mean that one couldn't beat the other one out. The bears have to luxury and the need to play both Clark and Olson and it has nothing to do with ability to block. Clark being on the field as much as a Olson is a testament to Clark's worth not Olson's ineffectiveness. 3) Now if you argue that the Bears should have drafted Tony Ugoh or Arron Sears instead of Olson is hindsight, but no one doubted that Olson was the best skill position player available, and he will have a major impact on the offense. Bottom line is "Olson cant block" was generated from draft reports not from actual performance, and looks like you didnt read those same draft reports when you state that Davis was a "blocking te". Olson is actually in a lot of packages the play him in the backfield as a lead blocker/hback, and If he was completely incapable of blocking im sure they would place someone else back there.

  7. I demand that this thread name be changed... not all people in milwaukee are lame!!!!
  8. They were talking about that on comcast a little while ago. Does he have any speed left? If not, then I don't see how he would help us. We've already got a cadre of slower possession type receivers. Getting Horn is akin to the Sox getting Griffey: get an old, slow player for an old, slow team. Why? Yeah if he's slow now, I don't see the point. Actually I didn't see the point of Booker either, but that's another story. I'm gonna make a prediction: Booker doesn't make the team. That has certainly picked up steam in the past week or two. He's essentially a slight downgrade to Moose, but Moose was pretty worthless last year. I'd prefer it if some younger guys beat him out, which at the very least could be a positive in the future. Booker isn't going to be a part of this team if/when they ever return to elite SB contender status. They keep saying that there are 2 spots for bradley booker and lloyd. lloyd has been the best reciever on the team, so its down to bradley and booker. I could see booker being cut

  10. fixed also look at Grossman's numbers when he came back after the ridiculous benching.
  11. Calling for Rodgers head is stupid. He is essentially a rookie QB, and isn't going to be Brett Favre right away. In fact at his ceiling he isn't going to be anywhere close to Brett Favre. Packers fanse understand this and are willing to give him a chance. He is an unproven commidity and the Packers don't know what they have in him, and until they do the fanbase and franchise will remain commited. If Bears fans were calling for the head of Rodgers in the exact same situation in Chicago, and wanted Matt Flynn to start over him I think I would laugh myself to death. You havent watched much Bears football or listened to much chicago sports radio or read the trib or suntimes. You would have been dead already.

If Bears fans were calling for the head of Rodgers in the exact same situation in Chicago, and wanted Matt Flynn to start over him I think I would laugh myself to death. Some of these Bear fans? I wouldn't put it past 'em, given the hypothetical situation. Chicago is the town, after all, that has been in love with it's QB depth chart for over 20 years. They are also the town that hasn't had a really good QB in forever. The fans might not be calm, cool and collected, but they haven't been wrong about their QBs either. Guys didn't fail because fans were trigger happy. The team has done a horrible job bringing in offensive brainpower and quarterbacks. There's no disputing that fact. I wouldn't dispute that. I wouldn't either, but here is the big difference. Give Aaron Rodgers, Grossman's numbers in 2006, and have the Rodgers led Packers go to the Super Bowl. He would be revered in that town not villianized like Grossman is here. Its a joke.
  13. That ridiculous article aside. Hanie has nfl skills. I am glad we scooped him up. He looks better than Joe Flacco playing the same level of competition. Better arm more mobility. Nfl scouting is a joke.
  14. Honestly, I think that the presense of Moss in an offense makes the job so much easier for the QB. He has been involved in the top two offenses in history, and is arguably the biggest gamechanger of this era when he wants to play. I also think that the improved o-line in NE would be a benefit to Rex. However he is no Tom Brady, and I think you are looking at a 6-9 ppg dropoff at the very least from last year. I also think Rex is good for one more turnover per game. Rex would be MVP and Orton would be a pro-bowler with 2 sb rings. Book it. Actually Orton would do great in that offense. Dump off to the man child wes welker all day.
  15. Because Orton didn't look much better when he did play last year. 2 INT in 3 games. I thought he only played 2. Still, how many passes did he throw? At Minnesota, home in the freezer against GB and home against New Orleans. 80 attempts, 2 were picked. 73.9 rating. Clearly not good, but not what we saw his rookie year either. Most people's opinions on Orton are based almost exclusively on what he did his rookie year and it is assumed he has not or cannot improve from those levels. I don't get why. I am not in the camp that you cant like one player if you like the other. I like Orton, I think he can be a solid qb in this league. My feeling is that if Grossman can't succeed in this offense, Orton will fail as well.
  16. This is a quote from my fiance who knows very little about football: "How come tom brady gets 7 seconds to throw, and Rex gets hit after 3 seconds. that doesnt seem fair. wasnt rex good when he had a chance to throw?" Just to show that she really knows nothing of this great game: "football is boring, where are the slam dunks?" The former question, while simplistic, is a logical one. I doubt Brady would have been 1/10th as successful if he would have been drafted by Bears. Also quick note: I agree that Travaris Jackson has the talent to be a successful qb. I think if Grossman were to go anywhere and be successful it would be a team like the Dolphins with a young oline and a really good running game.
  17. I never could imagine when I would truly root against the Bears, but if Rex gets another job and starts against the Bears. I might.
  18. I think this is more indicative of the fact that Lovie realizes the offense won't have any room for error and thus needs a quarterback that can limit mistakes. Their performances in the preseason were pretty much even in terms of their abilities. Grossman showed a better touch for the big play, and Orton was more conservative. Yeah, Grossman isn't going to have an opportunity to capitalize on his big play ability, his one advantage in the competition, so what's the point of risking his big mistakes? Kyle is going to have to hit on high percentage shorter routes, if he's going to make it to the bye week alive. Either way, Rex will likely play. with our line so will hanie and vinnie testaverde

  20. I haven't been this less optimistic about a bears season since I was a fetus
  21. If you are properly swinging over 100 mph, you need a stiff shaft.
  22. Let's not talk about only scoring a 151, 'kay? Though Kansas was still willing to take me. Their mistake. kU will take anyone... I'm willing to take that from anyone but you. I know a couple of guys who just graduated from KU law who loved it.
  23. ah... game 5 against the braves. we won. I got drunk. LSAT the next day. Score a 151. Could only get into Detroit Mercy Law. Now sitting here instead of having a job.
