  1. I would agree that a pitcher worries me less, but not that it doesn't bother me at all. Daisuke Matsuzaka was suppose to be a superstar and was underwhelming. There's no way his return value for the Red Sox was anywhere close to the $51M post and $51M the Red Sox have paid in salary since he joined MLB. Is it that far fetched that Tanaka could possibly end the same way. I'm not saying he will, just that the risk is there.
  2. Seems like a huge risk to me, at that price. Not every player that jumps has the impact of Ichiro...there's been quite a few, expensive, flameouts. Sure. But what are we going to do with that $25m that isn't risk? You're always assuming risk, but assuming risk on a player that's put up numbers in MLB and assuming risk on a player that never has is different. I think Tanaka is going to be a great player, but it's hard to argue that any of us know that for sure. He's never pitched a season in MLB, so there's inherently more risk to sign him than to sign a known commodity. That said, there's more upside as well and a team doesn't have to give up a draft pick to sign him. I'm simply saying that if Tanaka comes over and ends up being a journeyman level pitcher, $20M is a lot to swallow.

  4. OK, be an ass.
  5. Glad you were aware of my activity level in the league. I was actually very active. Your frustration level might be less if you didn't assume you knew what was going on with everyone. Your firs post in the trading thread was 2 weeks before the deadline: viewtopic.php?p=2901992#p2901992 I'm not frustrated and you make no sense So because I wasn't active in a trade thread, I wasn't active in the league?

  7. I don't have anyone better than Tulo/Braun on my roster? I have Harper who won't cost me a single point to keep at seasons end. There's a real value to exempt players in this format, and as someone mentioned earlier the owners in the race will have to flip guys they can't keep. Very rarely do they get great value because everyone knows they have to trade away points.
  8. HBC receives Alamo's 2nd round MLB pick (via Kid Rodelo) to complete the Morneau trade.
  9. Looks as though Round 13 Selection Trevor Graham has signed too.
  10. is this list correct? i haven't heard anything about most of these guys signing It's not official, it's based on information/twitter conversations/etc. Some of the guys have flat out said they signed on their twitter feeds, some have referenced leaving for Mesa, there's a couple that are based on local news reports...like I said, it's not official.

  13. I don't get this move for Kansas. He's a very good recruiter, but self doesn't really need help in that. He's awful as a coch from what I have heard. I guess this about getting in hood with Okafor and Alexander? He's a recruiter. He has some great relationships in Chicago. Always seemed extremely tight with players too.
  14. Former Illini Myke Henry is transferring to DePaul.
  15. He has Alamo, Clifton, Blair, Brown, Hermans, Hannemann, Zastryzny, Wilson, and Burks all but done. Says Brockmeyer is leaning toward signing, but not ready to declare him.
