  1. That's the problem with getting rid of Wiz. He was always willing to lay the wood, either on the boards or in open ice. Buff doesn't seem all that interested in hitting anymore, which means there isn't much physical play on this team aside from the 4th line.
  2. Worse contract: Campbell or Sori? I hope they perform a miracle here, but I'm out. Time to catch up on last week's episode of 24.
  3. ATP the Hawks need to get Khabby healthy and ready for the playoffs. IMO, after the season I much rather re-sign Nik to a 2/3 yr deal for reasonable money, and trade Huet to a goaltender desparate team and have Niemi as Nik's backup, over bring Huet back. I cannot get confident with Huet in goal, and I think the Hawks should trade him in the offseason. I just don't know if they would be able to get anyone to take on his contract. And it would be, in effect, Tallon admitting a mistake. Hopefully he is willing to do that.
  4. We are not going anywhere in the playoffs with Huet in goal. Simple as that.
  5. That, by any measure, is shitty goaltending.
  6. I thought that at first too, but he wasn't completely in free and the penalty wasn't that bad. If he got taken completely down, I think we may have gotten the call. But, in hindsight, the PP was just fine. :-))
  7. Wow, Thomas is playing great.
  8. And I just realized Pelletier is wearing Roenick's number.
  9. Pelletier just had himself a pretty solid shift. He's a bit crafty with the puck down low.
  10. Campbell sucking again. And I just noticed something. Thomas absolutely knew that Kane was going to go high. He was jumping before Kane started his shot. Kane needs to mix it up a little. And Versteeg just missed an open net. Boston is a good team, but this is frustrating. Great play by Seabrook there too.
  11. Yeah, that was a save a hot goalie would make. But I'm not terribly hacked off about it. Man, Havlat is hot. Just needs to stop hitting those posts.
  12. The boys are doing some good work early on here. Wow, Kobasew blew one there...
  13. I'm back from the tropical isle and ready for some pucks, my friends. The hotel had very little TV, and the only sports was ESPN. So I was relegated to watching the ticker to see what happened on Wednesday. They never reported the Pahlson trade. I heard about Antropov going for just a 2nd and a conditional. Where were you on that one, Dale? Not pleased with this trade, even if most reports were that Kontiola was a pain in the ass. As someone else said, there were too many deals out there for Tallon to not get his hands on one of them. And sending away Wiz hurts the defensive depth.
  14. ESPN is an embarassment. That's just lazy production work and a reader who clearly knows nothing about hockey. Watched the game late last night in fast-forward. Great early effort and a solid game. Nice fight by Eager. Leaving for a five-day trip today to a warm beach and I'm only going to miss tomorrow night's game. Nice.
  15. I'm gonna miss this one on account of going to a buddy's house to get tanked and watch KU exact bloody revenge on MU for their fortunate win last month in Columbia. But speaking of bloody revenge, the Hawks owe LA a little.
  16. I was just about to create a thread asking where the Hawks thread went. This crap has to stop. :D
  17. Watched the end of the Toronto/Ottawa game on HNIC last night, and perhaps folks are right about Leafs fans not supporting a team in a place like Hamilton. When Toronto scored the game-winner in OT, the Scotia Bank Center (Centre?) erupted like it was a Leafs home game. Reminded me of Daryl Ward's bomb in Florida and all the Cub fans there. Oh, happy days.
  18. What is surprising? That so many people are going? I don't follow. They are at 103% of capacity. They just have a small building. I know Washington had a decent sellout streak going (I mean, for them -- I think was like 10 games) a few weeks ago. And the Blues drawing over 18K/game is pretty solid. They are creeping up too. The only real surprise to me is Boston. Great team, only 90% full.
  19. Still not worried about losing the 4th seed, and I think if they skate like they have been they'll win in the playoffs. IF, and only IF, they get good goaltending.
  20. No crap. I can't wait till we have a call go against us in the playoffs just to see how many people off themselves. 8-[
  21. [expletive]. That's the problem with the 4-on-3. They can just close in too much. Refs, thanks for the absolutely crap penalty call on Versteeg. Another embarassing effort by the zebras.
  22. A save by Niemi! And a beaut!
  23. 4-on-3 PP is awfully hard to kill. If they get through that I think we'll win it.
  24. The guy embellished well. But it's the ref's job to be able to decipher that.
