  1. Apparently Backstrom practiced fairly hard today and there's a suggestion he might be back this weekend. Makes it more important to get this win tonight.
  2. I know I'm in the minority, which is weird because the video is pretty clear. I'm a meatball most of the time when it comes to taking hitting out of the game, but this is the way the league handles things these days. I just don't get everyone saying it wasn't a headshot.
  3. what did he hit first? Chest. Gryba is a big boy. He made a play on a stupid pass as Eller's head was down. It is unfortunate but not dirty, illegal or even reckless. What is Gryba supposed to do? let Eller have an easy break out. Wrong. Freeze the video at 2:58. You'll see shoulder hit head.
  4. I'm sorry, watch the video posted above at 2:56. His shoulder hits the head first, simple as that. As I said before, the proof is in the fact that he was out cold when he went down. You don't get knocked out like that from taking a check to the chest. His head went flying after being hit by the shoulder. Again, I'm not saying he intended to do that. It wasn't an elbow. Not dirty, but reckless. You are right that he wasn't going for the head. But he did hit it first. I can't believe the entire Canadian media (who I listen to too much of, by the way) is missing that.
  5. It looked dirty, but the more I see it the less certain I am that I could point out the dirty part. Yeah I just watched it a few more times. The shoulder hit him right in the jaw and you could see his head jolt to the side. Dude was out. Everyone keeps saying the principal point of contact wasn't the head, but that's just wrong. It definitely was. That said, I'm not calling it dirty. He was trying to hit a guy with his head down. It's not like he elbowed him. So not dirty, but reckless.
  6. It's been three days and the NHL playoffs are going completely off the rails: These series are going to get nasty.
  7. Two game suspension. I'm fine with that, but seriously, CBC Radio yapping heads are insistent that this was a clean hit. McGuire too. I just don't see it.
  8. I keep hearing that the principal point of contact wasn't the head. And I believe the biggest part of the injury happened when his face hit the ice. But the guy was clearly out on his feet, and the only way that happens is if he got hit in the head.
  9. :stickman:
  10. I suspect that flub was intentional. She was trying to get herself out there and follow Kustok to New York. Why else would they fire her for it or supposedly some stuff they had to have known about. And if they didn't know about it, people far above her should also be getting fired today.
  11. I hope they don't sell. [expletive] are charging $125 for the worst seats in the house, up from $90 last year for first round. Blues were 2,000 short of a sellout for game 1. And they draw pretty well. Insane prices and I guess requiring STH to renew for next year to keep playoff priority pissed a lot of people off. But it's a business...
  12. As for the booing for the announcement of Harding as the third star, the fans always boo an opponent who is named as one of the stars. Always. Those people need to toughen up a little.
  13. Yeah Keith was shaky. Seabrook was not. And Leddy and Oduya were solid as well. And full credit to the fourth line. They had some great shifts. I thought Bollig might get his first goal for a minute there.
  14. Wow just saw that Quick gaffe. St. Louis needed this game. That's gonna be a great series. Game on, [expletive] I love the playoffs.
  15. maybe just woke the neighbors!!!!
  16. That reminded me of 2010 when they had to give Niemi a cavity search.
  17. Dude fuckin bowled over Sharp wtf.
  18. I know this by now but Suter is really good.
  19. Handzus has been fine but we've missed Bolland tonight.
  20. Hope it goes as long as Game 1 vs. Calgary in 2009 with the same result. Was that Havlat?
  21. Man this [expletive] better not go all night.
  22. Toews just got absolutely tackled right into Harding. This should be a comfortable win. But now the bounces can go either way.
