  1. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/features/column.asp?sport=MLB&column=14 Percent is the percent chance of being picked. Cubs: Chadd Blasko - RHP Cubs - Age 25 - 10 percent Didn't pitch last year after shoulder surgery in 2004. 94-mph fastball and plus curve, if he ever makes it all the way back. Bobby Brownlie - RHP Cubs - Age 25 - 10 percent 2002 first-round pick still hasn't recovered his velocity. Had a 4.74 ERA in 14 starts and 13 relief appearances for Triple-A Iowa last season. Billy Petrick - RHP Cubs - Age 21 - 25 percent Underwent shoulder surgery after posting a 5.59 ERA in nine starts for Single-A Daytona. Sinker-slider pitcher was viewed as one of the Cubs' best prospects. Russ Rohlicek - LHP Cubs - Age 26 - 15 percent Big lefty reliever with a good arm. Walked 45 in 62 1/3 IP for Triple-A Iowa, so the Cubs were right to leave him unprotected. Brandon Sing - 1B Cubs - Age 25 - 60 percent Followed up .270/.399/.571 season at Single-A Daytona by hitting .276/.404/.538 in Double-A in 2005. Right-handed hitter could help an American League team. He's a below average defender at first base, and the Cubs felt he was hopeless in left field.
  2. ONLY way I would trade Pie this offseason is if it were for Abreu. Even then I don't think Pie straight up for Abreu would be taken by the Phils.
  3. Lugo at #7 spot?? He would be 1-2 I would think. Didn't he steal 39 bases last year??
  4. My pick is Pierre and Wilkerson. Not too keen on Wilkerson...but would love to get Pierre as long as we don't have to give up a whole lot, but by the looks of it we probably will have to. Who do you think JH will get this week, if anyone?
  5. Probably true, unfortunately. I wanted Furcal as much as the next fan, but everything happens for a reason. I would like to see Pierre and Lugo at the top of the lineup.
  6. lol, that's true...Cubs didn't impress last year, that's for sure.
  7. I know it could be about the money....13.3 million vs the Cubs offer of reportedly 10 million a year...but Hendry stated in the newspaper that he sat down with Furcal and explained to him his plan of attack and what route he was planning on going in the next several weeks for the team. He said he was just being honest with Furcal about what he wanted to do. Maybe Furcal wasn't impressed? Maybe what JH said didn't sound like "championship caliber" type moves? Now I can see if he says, Hey Furcal if we sign you, we're looking at J. Jones in RF or something like that, Furcal would not be impressed at all. However, if Hendry says we're looking at trading for a Dunn or an Abreu for RF, I would think Furcal would be excited to play here a little bit more. Just something else to think about other than the usual he was in it for the money. We could be in for a RUDE AWAKENING if JH does the usual "cubs moves" and gets average pieces via trades or signings here soon. No one wants J. Jones when we have a shot to get Abreu who IS on the market. Do what it takes Hendry! Basically what I am saying is, if at the end of this offseason if JH doesn't do anything "big" we could possibly see why Furcal didn't sign with us. He didn't like the direction Hendry was going. Any thoughts??? :?:
  8. Well now that Furcal has signed with Dodgers how about getting Lugo from Tampa and maybe Huff as well? Lugo would look nice at SS and #1 spot. G AB H 2B 3B HR RBI R BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 158 616 182 36 6 6 57 89 61 72 39 11 .295 .362 .403 .765 Discuss...
  9. Ya know, If you think about it....why isn't this deal for Furcal complete if this is the deal on the table?? If I'm Furcal, I sign that as soon as it is offered, you don't let JH take a moment to rethink it. Obviously....not real or he would have signed immediately. Braves wouldn't offer that. They're not that stupid.
  10. Not sure if this was posted yet...but Yahoo Sports has posted the same article from scout..... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=citadel-2_471247_260&prov=citadel&type=story
  11. Or does Hendry have until the 28th to get something for him??
  12. The Brewers would definitely be a better team with Clement. Pitching and Defense wins!
  13. Who here thinks JH is going to pull off a deal today w/ Greenburgh included? Maybe even for a PTBNL?? Hopefully he is part of the Pierre deal and it gets done today, but knowing the Cubs...I DOUBT IT!
  14. Let's not forget Brown's line from a few years ago: 2003 LA 32 32 14 9 0 211.0 184 67 56 56 185 0 0 2.39 1.14 Didn't he win Cy Young that year, or not? Yes, I know his last 2 yrs have been crappy, but if we could get him real cheap, may not be a bad option. Edited for language.
  15. Cubs will look to sign a big bat off the bench, someone like Mark Sweeney. Cubs will make final push for Furcal before the winter meetings, look for a deal in the area of 4/38. JH has serious interest in Juan Pierre Also has some serious interest in Milton Bradley The cubs will look to sign another starting pitcher, someone like Kevin Brown.
  16. I hate when this happens - Bruce saying the trade isn't close now... Gets my hopes up for nothing....I wish it would hurry and go through...this is the most exciting time of the year for me with trades going on and Cubs TRYING to improve the team...but it's also the most frustrating sometimes...(No Beltran last year).
