Maybe because the last good position playing prospect the Cubs have developed is Mark Grace. As pathetic as that is, Pie is our best chance at changing this. Also, if you think that Baltimore would take Pie instead of Prior than you are f#*$*# nuts. They want pitching, and if they decide to trade Tejeda, they are going to get it from somebody. If anything, they are going to want both Prior and Pie. I am not saying that Hendry would make such a deal, but it will take something like that or Prior and Hill to get Tejeda.

I don't even think it's a question. Furcal addresses several needs, and we have the money to sign him. Hendry has to make this happen.

I don't agree with you on this. Walker is really just an insurance policy in case we don't get Furcal. If we do get him, Cedeno should be a second base and Neifi should back both of them up. Whether or not Dusty will give Cedeno the playing time he deserves is another question. Also, Patterson is much more attractive trade bait to small and mid market teams. If you could get Bradley for Walker, then you still have an important chip to get another player. Otherwise, I doubt many teams are going to give you much of anything for Walker.

^^^ Co-sign. For the against, I would specifically mention the Japanese Leagues and the players that have played here. What the hell does that mean? I understand how the Japanese Leagues show that the World Series isn't really the World's Series. But then you mention Japanese players playing in the MLB. Your comment basically is for and against. Thanks, been coming as a guest for a while, but wanted to start posting. Has anyone hurd this rumor that we are close to getting Juan Pierre for a couple of minor leaguers? My buddy told me that he heard this on AM 1000. I didn't see it posted anywhere on here, so I'm not sure how truthful it is. Please don't kill the messanger if I'm wrong. Would be great as long as it's not Murton, Pie or Hill IMO. A 1-2 of Furcal and Pierre would be among the best.

The question is if we trade Patterson for Mench, then who is our centerfielder? Pie needs another half season in the minors, IMO, and I don't think any of the free agents are going to be worth the money. Pierre would make a lot of sense for several reasons, but who knows what it would take to get him.
