  1. I like Angel. I hope he can keep it up.
  2. Not that it would have mattered but given the struggles from the pen I think Lou should have just smacked Gooz on the butt and said go get 'em, tiger following the leg cramp in the 6th.
  3. He just missed a homer. So, that still registers as an out. A base hit or walk would have been preferable there. What an interesting way to watch baseball... Meaning? That kind of simplification can be had from watching ESPN's Gameday play-by-play. Baseball is a sport, not just of results, but of efforts, degrees, and subjective levels of failure and success. It's the same reason a pitcher's win column fails to tell the whole story - you need to see more than the numbers (or at least the right numbers) to know what happened. I dodn't mean anything personally, just that seeming to only care that Pagan's hit has an out made it sound like that's all that mattered. I'm just a big believer in taking a pitch, especially in situations following a wlak and the pitcher is tiring. See if they can get themselves in more trouble. Baseball is hard enough why not see how much the other guy can help you out? I agree, but it is funny seeing that coming from a guy with that sig. Soriano? I know he's not the poster boy for patience, I wish that he had more. I like him as a player and I was fooling around in PS and made this sig. Thought it was cool so I kept it.

But I understand a lot of people enjoy seeing long flyballs though.

  7. Are you freakin' kidding me?!? Pagan swings at the first pitch after DeRosa walks and the pitcher on deck?
  8. Is it just me or is Murton swinging at a lot more first pitches?
  9. Anybody know the name of the souvenier shop that is caddy corner to the Harry Caray Statue at Wrigley?
  10. But tapping them at the club remains OK.
  11. Anyway, I'm not trying to rail on Murton. I like the guy. He just needs to be held accountable for his misplays today. That's all I'm going to say about it.
  12. No, not really. He's having to learn the position on the fly, he will make mistakes. I don't see how he's learning on the fly? If you're an OF and have played the game for any length of time you have seen flyballs coming at every position from just about every angle. He's probably caught hundreds of those type of flyballs in his lifetime. He just screwed up and dropped a ball that he should have caught. I didn't see the play but it sounds like a bad drop. But you're wrong if you think any OF has seen flyballs coming at every position from just about every angle. A flyball in RF looks different than one in LF. There is definitely an adjustment. It's just a shame they spent all of spring training with Jacque in right, Soriano in center and Murton/Floyd in left, and then decided 3 weeks in to completely flip flop everybody. So, this year is the only year that Murton has played OF? I'm sure throughout his career in High School, Minor Leagues, Spring Training, everyday practice, etc. Matt Murton has taken several flyballs at each and every position.

He's probably caught hundreds of those type of flyballs in his lifetime. He just screwed up and dropped a ball that he should have caught. I'm talking about the first inning double. The route he took was like a player who isn't used to the position. The error was just bad. My bad. But the point still stands. If he was a career IF that had just made the switch to OF the excuse would be a little more plausible but OF take so many flyballs and play all over during their career with a few exceptions. I doubt Chris Duncan has ever played CF.

  15. Not really. Plus, he's playing out of position. That fly ball had nothing to do with playing out of position. Neither did the first one, really. The guys is an OF he should catch a routine flyball and keep balls that drop in front of him from getting past him.
  16. One error. The other was Z's. He may have not been credited with an error but he did misplay the ball in the 1st where the first two runs scored.
  17. I don't care how long it takes, just win it.
  18. Ok, a frsh Old Style and Barrett for the win.
  19. Are you freakin' kiddin' me? Let's end this now.
  20. It really makes no sense to have Theriot running with Lee and Ram coming up.
  21. Indianapolis is another blakc hole when it comes to mlb games. Cubs, Cards , Reds, and ChiSox are all blacked out here. I really hate it. I hope they change it.
  22. I didn't quite take it that way. He said that Theriot did a nice job today. I didin't hear him say at any point that Ryan was the new everyday SS. That being said I wouldn't be surprised if he is in fact the new everyday SS. Which he should be IMO.
  23. I would prefer a recprding of Harry. Especially on those days when the Cubs bats are sleeping they can play the occasions where he emphatically says, "let's get some runs!"
