  1. neither pitcher is very good, I say it takes 10 runs to win this one.
  2. He was our BACK UP SHORTSTOP. I mean we had to give up Gonzalez in that Garciaparra trade. What are you talking about ran him out of town? We got back one of the best shortstops of all time for him. So I don't quite think we ran him out of town. Why don't you look at all the other teams in baseball and let them lose there starting shortstop and see how much prodcution they get from there back up shorstop.
  3. I traded Kerry Wood for Alfonso Soriano. MY lineup in this league is awesome. It is only a seven team league but sti.. C- Mauer and Posada 1B- Lee 2B- Soriano SS- Tejeda 3B- Aramas LF- Alou CF- Podsednik RF- Sosa OF- Miguel Cabrera Util- Brian Roberts Util- Melvin Mora Plus I have Prior, Zambrano, Zito, Sheets, Harden, Matt Morris, Maddux, Penny. Bedard, B.J. Ryan, Dempster, Baez, and Hoffman.
  4. Well, let's start with Neifi. His problem is basically Baker has used him wrong. He has a terrible OBP and was used at the top of the lineup for much of the year. I do agree that he has down okay when you consider that he is a 2nd string SS. Unfortunately, he has had to start all year. Putting Burnitz in CF is okay in an emergency, but he doesn't have the speed and range to play CF everyday and especially in a big ballpark. Until Patterson returns or Pie is ready, Hairston needs to be in CF. As for Damon, I think he will be looking at 3-4 years and $28-40 million and the Cubs are committed to Pie by 2007, if not next year. As for the bullpen, let's hope Woody is okay. Remmy is over the hill, Novoa is still inconsistent, and Dempster has been good, but scary at times. If Lawton, Nomar, Wood, and Williamson all contribute the way we hope they will, I think the Cubs have a good shot at the Wild Card. So it all comes down to hating Baker right? :D I agree though I don't know if I want Damon if Pie is going to be there. I expect great things from Pie, but we can't rush him like we did Patterson.
  5. I would say keep Barmes. Playing in Colorado he could be a good SS hitting wise, and you can't find many of those.
  6. I have been on this forum now for only two days, and there are some obvious things. Most of yall hate Neifi and hate Baker. I would just like to hear mostly on why you hate Neifi. I agree with most points on Baker, but I mean Neifi has had some big hits for us this year, hell he hit a grand slam to win the game against the cards. I am just saying we lost Garciaparra and have had a pretty good replacement this year better then any of yall would have expected him to do. Why do you expect our players to be so great, when we have been so bad for so long. You expect all of our players to all stars? It seems like the only players yall like are Prior, Dempster, Lee, Murton, and Aramas. Oh, and Cedeno too. I am sure if we would have started Cedeno the whole year, his numbers wouldn't be nearly as good as Perez. Secondly, I agree totally on Murton needing at bats though. The one player on the cubs I really don't like is Hairston, I just think it is crazy to bat him first or second, but he seems to always hit there. Move Burnitz to center, he is ten times the fielder Hairston is. Put Lawton in right and start MURTON everyday. He is really good, and can flat out hit the ball. What does Hairston bring to our lineup, he doesn't even run the bases good, much less get on base a lot. I am really looking forward to getting Wood and Willie back. They will be very solid for us. People talk bad about our pen a lot, but in all honesty when we get them our pen honestly will be pretty good. Good lefties in Ohman, Remmie, and Rusch. Solid power guys in Novoa, Woodie, and Willie. And a very good closer in Dempster What do you think about our chances of landing Damon in the offseason? Anyway you think he leaves Boston, just for some of you who know more about this situation then I do. I know this might be more for the minor league part, but how has Pawelek looked in the minors so far? And, lastly, I really think as a whole now this team is really good. If we can just get in a little groove and stay consistent for once, I really think this team will make the playoffs, the Phillies, Mets, and Nats don't worry me at all. It will come down to us, the Marlins, and the Stros. I really think that the difference in whether we make the playoffs or not is the prodcution we get out of Hill and Jerome, and I am very confident in both of them. So GO CUBS!!! Lets make 05 a season to remember and tell me what yall think on some of this.
  7. Thats kind of what I was thinking. Anyone else wish to weigh in, or is this the common consensus. pretty much common I guess. I really don't think Ford is all that good. Neither is Nixon really, but he is decent atleast. He scores a lot of runs when they bat him 2nd. He can be solid.
  8. I look for it to be something like this.... 1. OF- Damon or Lawton, hopefully Damon 2. SS- Garciaparra 3. 1B- Lee 4. 3B- Aramas 5. 2B- TWalk 6. OF- Pie or Patterson 7. OF- Murton 8. C- Barrett I think this team can win, it can do a lot. We will have speed with 2 of the 3 OF spots. Power with Lee and Aramas. And a lot of good OBP with Damon, Nomar, TWalk, Murton. The staff is something like 1. Prior 2. Z 3. Wood or Maddux or J Will 4. Wood or Maddux or JWill 5. Rich Hill, I def. want to see him in the rotation the whole year next year. Think about guys this is our chance to be great Prior, Z, and Hill.

  12. Anyone? Do something good. yea he has no big hits for us all year I just want anybody to get a Cubs run over in this game - I'm not on Derrek's back. Apologies if you thought I was. haha, it is fine, look at matt getting a hit though, finally someone getting on base infront of DLEE.
  13. Anyone? Do something good. yea he has no big hits for us all year
  14. Yall are so negative, top of the order up next inning, maybe lawton will get his first hit as a cub.
  15. Losing Macias wouldn't really be a loss. Addition by subtraction my friend. Oh, I don't really disagree with that, but all I am saying is this is Baker we are talking about, you know Murton will get sent down which will just piss me off. I guess come September he will get called back up, but whatever. I don't really like Hairston though. He brings speed of the bench, but that is it. Let Patterson stay in Iowa. Let Bunrie play center, Lawton right, and Matt in Left. LET THE KID PLAY EVERYDAY. Until we start trying to get some of our position prospects into the big leauges we won't ever win a world series. Outside of Patterson who was the last position player we called up that we actually worked with and kept up. And Patterson isn't even up anymore.
  16. who are we going to send down? If we get Garciaparra, Woodie, Williamson, and Patterson back. I would first off say the two obvious people to send down would be Mitre and Cedeno, but then who are the next two? Baker seems like he loves Novoa, so I would say the other pitcher would be Weurtz. But, what other hitter would we send down? Murton, he is playing way too well to send down that would just be ridiculous. But we have no one else to send down. We can't send down Hairston, Hollandsworth, or Macias, we would lose them all.
