  1. yea where are all the moron Cubs fans who wanted Dempster to close this year. He should not have been brought back for that number of years and that much money. pathetic closer.

  3. Yea Bonds probably did steroids, but I have to give it to him for one thing. Bonds has great pitch recognition. He usually knows what kind of pitch to hack away on. And if he doesn't like the pitch, he just takes it as a ball. He challenges people to throw strikes. That pitch by Marshall was a pretty good pitch.....it was down and away.
  4. Would you guys do it? Yea, the kid might have some mental problems but he can clearly play RF for us. I think it's the time to go young. Prior has let us down year after year. We have some young guys who can join the rotation now. All we need to do is pick up a FA pitcher.
  5. That's what you get with a lineup with no power.
  6. 13 hits, 3 runs. Wow talk about non-clutch hitters. This just validates the point that we need more power hitters. Pitchers aren't afraid to challenge these free swinging singles hitters. It takes 4 singles to score 1 run.
  7. Duncan = Pujols II Dammit, why can't the Cubs ever develop position players like that.
  8. Murton clearly has to stay.....where do you stick him in RF? or keep him in LF? I don't know what guys will be available for RF after this season. Do we keep the same outfield? Or have Pagan replace Pierre? Pagan is an unknown. But still, I think we need one more power bat. So, I don't know what position do we replace with? It has to be either SS or 2B. Do we keep Izturis and replace Ronny with Soriano at 2B? Or replace Izturis with Tejada and keep Ronny at 2B?
  9. Matsuzaka is a big game pitcher and you can't compare him to Nomo and Shingo. The comparison you are making is like comparing the caliber of Roger Clemens to the caliber of Jon Lieber. Lieber had a couple good seasons but is really just a bit above average pitcher. All those other japanese guys you listed do not compare favorably to Matsuzaka. Just because the others weren't successful, you can't pass a talent like that up.
  10. Here are Matsuzaka's stats Last Year - 14-13 2.30 ERA This year - 11-4 2.01 ERA -10 CG in 17 starts -133k's in 125 Inn. WBC - 3-0 0.85 ERA -MVP of WBC
  11. anyone remember the name of that Korean slugger in the WBC? He was like the Asian David Ortiz......
  12. Are you sure he evens wants to play for the Cubs? At least Kerry Wood I know does. I'm just saying Cubs have been depending on these 2 starters the last couple of years and they have been on the DL most of the time. it would be okay if he's the #4 or #5 pitcher, but he's the #2 pitcher after Zambrano. Then who we replace Prior with.....freaking [expletive]-chested Rusch and 3 rookies. If we're going to keep Prior next year, we have to bring a top of the line starter. Otherwise we'll probably go into the next season with Prior injured again at the beginning.
  13. Well I don't have a link with me.....you can try looking it up. It's late and I'm too lazy.
  14. what exactly I'm underrating Prior? I think Cub fans overrate Prior. GMs around the league said they wouldn't trade even a B prospect for Prior. He's had one good year in 2003 when he went 18-6. Last 2 years he has been mediocre. This year he has yet to win a game. so no Prior isn't that good.
  15. Get rid of Guzman......he's the third stooge. Wood, Prior, and Guzman. The 3 injury-prone pitchers of the modern era. I was expecting Guzman to come up in 2003 or 2004. Basically Guzman = Hispanic Kerry Wood.
  16. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, none. Hill has not had near enough oppportunity to show what he can do. I said it before and I'll say it again, jerking a pitcher from starting in the minors to relieving in the majors, to starting in the minors, to spot starting in the majors, to relieving in the majors, to starting in the minors, to starting in the majors is not the way to develop a pitcher. Each time Hill has started in the majors his "life" was on the line. Not everyone is Wood or Prior. Hell, Baylor could decide if Z was a starter. yea ok....so should we just put him in the rotation and let him get beat up in the majors? Don't pull him out and let's see how he pans out. Is that your suggestion? He has 2 pitches. 1 mediocre fastball and 1 good curve. I think Marshall has a better curve. hill just doesn't have the mental makeup to play in Chicago, not everyone can deal with the fans. Maybe if he goes to a smaller market he will be successful.
  17. I just don't know about a guy who is ranked #172 and using the 13th pick on the guy.
  18. too bad he's an AAAA pitcher.
  19. For real, I don't care how we win it. I just want to see 1 World Series in my lifetime. My grandma will be 88 years old this November.......she is a big Cubs fan and was born in 1918. She's still waiting........98 years is too long. I don't care if they have all time legends playing at each position. Just as long as they win 1.
  20. Batting .360, 5 HR, 21 RBI after today's game.
  21. You wanna do something then? replace Ramirez. He's doing worse than Pierre, Jones or anyone else who everyone else is blaming. Ramirez has only 10 RBI's, batting .203. That's [expletive] pathetic for a clean-up hitter. Fine if minor league players are better, replace Ramirez with Moore. see how that works. Wasn't everyone here calling for Aardsma to come up.....gee wonder what happend to him. He bombed. Are you even watching Pie....his batting average is dipping mightily. Of course you don't know, you don't watch the games. Pie strikesout more than Pierre, you happy with that?
  22. Being IMMATURE, and being a MENTAL MIDGET are NOT the same thing. People forget that Zambrano is still only 24 yrs old. And posters like synergy believe Zambrano should act older then his age. And now, I would not Zambrano, even for an impact bat. People forget the Cubs are more then one bat away from competing. yes they are a Cabrera and Tejada away from competing.
  23. Zambrano is a mental midget.....I saw him yell at Matt Murton when Murton messed up. If anything goes wrong he completely unravels. Trade him now to get an impact bat. He's the only one who will bring a big star bat right now. If we wait till later, when his value is low, we'll get nothing for him. We have too many light-hitting players on our team. With people on base, no one's afraid to pitch to someone because none of our hitters have power.
  24. which Cubs player was Aniston fooling around with at that time?
  25. I'm officially sicker of spring training. Cubs go this way: Pierre, CF Hairston, 2B Lee, 1B Ramirez, 3B Jones, RF Murton, LF Perez, SS Blanco, C Zambrano, P No Cedeno. If Cedeno doesn't do well out of the gate in the first month....take out Blanco and put in Barrett and this is the starting lineup for the rest of the year. Cedeno has played below average this spring training.
