  1. I fancy myself a patient person for the most part. I'm trying real hard here, Ringo.
  2. WHIP does a pretty good job of showing the frequency with which they allow batters to reach base. whether it's via hit or walk, statistics prove that Zambrano's been much better at keeping people off the bases when he pitches, and that's more important that your assertion that he just has no control
  3. don't be hot, sun don't be wet, water don't be snake, boa constrictor
  4. are you now the one arbitrarily deciding who has growing pains and who sucks?
  5. 2006 WHIP Zambrano: 1.29 Marshall: 1.52 Career WHIP Zambrano: 1.28 Marshall: 1.44 Marshall still holds the edge for 2007 based on a few nice starts, but that margin is closing fast and will probably disappear within the next 2 starts
  6. it's almost like we're talking to Marshall's mom
  7. no, they're both capable of putting up ace-like starts Zambrano is capable of being an ace, Marshall has the ceiling of a 3 or 4
  8. and they're about 1 start away from Zambrano having superior statistics again this season Not if Marshall does what he is capable of. If they both do what they are capable of, Zambrano will easily outperform Marshall. maybe. no, easily
  9. I'd say slim and none. They'd need to send someone down or DFA someone to make room for him on the roster (players still count against the 25-man roster while suspended, so the suspension won't open up a roster spot). I think they'll make do with Ward and perhaps Derosa. plus we need Micah to pound out monster AAA numbers because our GM has a terrific track record of selling high
  10. and they're about 1 start away from Zambrano having superior statistics again this season
  11. That's one of my reasons, too. Seems like a thoroughly decent chap, as well, which is always good. see what I mean?
  12. I doubt many of the people who have signed up in the last 6 months even know who Jon is
  13. What a joke that Hanley didn't make the team. true, but we all know it's much more important to carry 4 1B on any roster
  14. yes, that too. I get winded easily and it's all downhill from there
  15. Yeah, I agree. I was thinking the most likely scenerio is the Cubs package both of them for someone like Shawn Green. not happening unless the Mets are trying to avoid the playoffs
  16. Here's what I've got..... but you know how fast things can change...... Gm# Date Opponent Score Starter Opp Starter 81 Mon 07/02 @ Washington - Lilly Simontacchi 82 Tue 07/03 @ Washington - Zambrano Bowie 83 Wed 07/04 @ Washington - Hill Chico 84 Thu 07/05 @ Washington - Marshall Bergmann 85 Fri 07/06 @ Pittsburgh N - Marquis Maholm 86 Sat 07/07 @ Pittsburgh N - Lilly Van Benschoten 87 Sun 07/08 @ Pittsburgh - Zambrano Duke Wow, that's quite the lineup of opposition pitching we face. If none of our starters crap the bad, we should have a very good chance of seeing the Cubs take all of these. Hell, apparently we can even let one starter get away with crapping the bed and still pull out a win. we'll never beat a guy named Van Benschoten
  17. they should concentrate their efforts on assembling a good pitching staff
  18. I know I'm getting really tired of entering your email address
  19. yeah, I was confused when I saw options for both freakishly often and weekly -- aren't they the same thing? I would assume weekly meant once a week. yes, which is freakishly often when married
  20. stats are for nerds!
  21. yeah, I was confused when I saw options for both freakishly often and weekly -- aren't they the same thing?
  22. absolutely incorrect temporarily correct
  23. which is the option for "3 times one week and then not again for a really long time because 'we just did it a whole bunch of times a week or 2 ago' even though it was actually 2 months ago"?
