I'm sorry but if it comes down to not getting someone useful because Gallagher's "untouchable", that sucks. I appreciate what he's done and I'm sure he's got a nice career ahead of him as 3/4 starter somewhere, but come on. He isn't exactly another Carlos Zambrano that you've got to hold onto for dear life. Gallagher's probably the best trade chip prospect the Cubs have, by far, and since they've got so few of those anyway, he's most likely got to go if you want to acquire someone that's actually going to make an impact. This delusion that anyone is going to give up any semblance of a frontline starter for crap the Cubs don't really want anyway is ridiculous (not anyone here, I mean the front office if they truly think this is possible). But I guess this could also just as easily be B.S. trying to make Gallagher sound more elusive and thus desirable to other teams in hopes they'll be wowed if -- surprise! -- Hendry tells them he's available after all when trying to deal.
