Carpenter pitched a strong game on Saturday and got the win, 5-3 vs. the Brewers. 6.2 innings pitched, 5 hits, 3 er, 3BB, 5SO. And the three earned runs charged to Carpenter were scored off Al Reyes with two outs in the 7th, after Carpenter had left the game. Carp pitched a nice game and is now 2-1 on the year. Predicting failure or a dropoff for Carpenter is no different than me predicting Carpenter having a better year than last year based on him coming into his own as a pitcher and finally achieving his potential after a breakout year last year. Same difference. Neither is written in stone, and either could happen.
