  1. Some part of me still believes this team can make a run at .500. All it would take is some good production from the 5th spot in the rotation, IMO. If Valbuena, Schierholtz, and Soriano are traded then it's probably not going to happen - but if Lake keeps it up, it could easily happen. Guerrier and Strop have made the pen ten times better. Seriously doubt that they're going to trade Valbuena. I hope you're right. I'm on the Valbuena over Barney bandwagon for sure.

  3. WOO NATE! Lake has sparked the team. Wildcard, here we come.
  4. A week after that, we hit the five-year anniversary of the last playoff win by an Epstein-run team. If you're not counting him as part of the 2007 World Series win, then you can't count him as part of the current Cubs. Huh? I just assumed you said 10... my bad. Edit: and that would still be inaccurate. I need a nap.

  6. I was in Chicago at the time, getting ready for a trip to Wrigley. I ended up seeing the debut of Aramis and Lofton against the Phillies. I believe they went a combined 0-8. Phillies beat Matt Clement with Randy Wolf. Thome and Ricky Ledee went deep ...and yes, it was all my fault.
  7. Whut. Who is even the last left handed hitter the Cubs has that could hit lefties? I know Rizzo was pretty good at it earlier in the season but has tapered off, and even when he does get a hit its a little dribbler up the middle. Yet Chavez comes up there and hits one 420 feet the other way. It's just aggravating.
  8. Oh to know what it's like to see your team get clutch 2 out hits...
  9. Well, it's annoying that a lefty of theirs can hit it that far the other way against a LHP but I guess we should just be happy lake is ok
  10. If anyone needs a laugh... Brent lillibridge has the go ahead RBI single off Joe Nathan in Texas tonight.
  11. Unintentionally walking Castro on 4 pitches has to be among the toughest feats in baseball.
  12. would've been nice to have a 3 hit game out of Starlin as well. Oh well... nice and easy here, KG.
  13. even if he eluded the tag, the guy is always called out when the ball beats him by that much. what a joke
  14. get outta here with that garbage, Sveum. That's gonna cost em.
