  1. Agreed. Unless your screaming like a lunatic you have no heart.
  2. From Phil Rogers this morning. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-27-rogers-whispers-sep27,0,5280968.column The same article also suggests the Cubs may be interested in trading Bradley to SD for Chris Young. After trading for Peavy, Williams isn't going to trade him. I still say Zambrano won't waive his NTC to go to the AL where he won't get to bat and his ERA will go up. Finally, Zambrano enjoys being the "ace of the staff" recognition (true or not) that he gets on the north side. He'd waive his NTC to go to the White Sox.
  3. I predict a trip to the World Series for them.
  4. To be fair there's not a lot of positives we can give the man this year. He was pretty miserable... I don't think anybody would be pissed if he stayed and played good baseball.
  5. The fans already booed him every step he took. The status quo was unacceptable. They couldn't just have Milton repeatedly insulting the organization and the fans, refusing to play and fighting with personel. Why couldn't they? You're basically saying that personal feelings and what the fans think are valid reasons for making a decision. When you're making big decisions based on fans and feelings, you're failing at your job. Can somebody find that quote from Hendry years ago about this very situation? It was something like "the day I let the fans dictate what decision I make is the day I am no longer doing my job." Well, that's exactly what he's doing. This season was already lost. Bradley can do or say whatever he wants the rest of the season, it's hurting NOTHING. You know what DOES hurt? Suspending a guy and diminishing what little value he had left. From a business perspective, there was absolutely no advantage of suspending him. NONE. He did it for personal feelings and to please the fans. That's really awful. This isn't about Hendry and his feelings. This is about Bradley acting like an idiot for the entire year. Hendry and Lou pushed for and believed in this guy, and he crapped all over the whole organization. The Cubs gave him 30 million dollars and a 3 year deal. That's how much they respected the guy, and it wasn't reciprocated. If you are going to under perform that's fine. No one can predict how ones going to do year after year, but at least have the class to respect the team and the org. That's not a hard thing to do, and Bradley didn't do it. You can't have a player diss the fans, players, and org and not discipline him.
  6. If you owned the team you'd have a different view. It's bad business to have anyone insulting your product. You have to have some kind of rules in place or your organization goes really bad in a hurry. The fact remains that Bradley was a bad business decision in every since of the word this year. It's absurd that you think insulting fans and the organization is acceptable behavior.
  7. I think the YES! network is strictly Yankees. I think the Mets and Boston both have their own networks. I think the Cubs can support their own channel. Edit: On second thought with WGN broadcasting 70 games still, it wouldn't be feasible.
  8. I was just going to post this. Why in the hell did the Cubs previous owner sign a contract with comcast that runs until 2019? The cubs should've started their own network years ago. Regardless, the Cubs make a good buck! The Cubs are 1/4 owners of Comcast. I don't think a Cub only network would work out. Why not?
  9. What? Do you need it in Chinese or Russian or something? Or maybe you need it in HD? Just "alot" less stupidity would be nice.
  10. If he had the same attitude and performance - He'd still be a douche. Well, if we were going to the playoffs it would probably have meant that he kept his numbers from July and August going. So while he'd still be a douche, his overall OBP would be right at .400 and he'd be "our douche". Just like how in 2003 Sammy was "our primadonna who listens to loud music in the clubhouse", but a year later and a different outcome he was "a douche who listens to loud music in the clubhouse...and must go". Insert some quote about how those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it...right about here. If he was playing up to his abilities all of this would've been a non-issue. Or if he didn't let the fans get to him when he played poorly. No one but the players give a crap how he is in the clubhouse.
  11. If he had the same attitude and performance - He'd still be a douche.
  12. He's been a douche all year. He deserves it.
  13. Hendry had no leverage to begin with. Right. I still have no idea why we gave him a freaking 3 year deal. Was anybody even offering him anything beyond 1 year? Yes, I know at least Tampa was offering him a 2 year deal.(I believe with an option?) Texas was interested but I believe dropped out early when it became clear how much he would cost. Not sure there were ever years attached. Then contact Tampa ASAP.
  14. Because if you wait for mid-season (if he lasts that long) you are saddled with the same situation you are now with no RF'er. I just don't see how there's anyway he'll somehow pull it together and be a productive positive force next year. You're going to be saddled either way if you do something stupid and just dump him. And who the F cares if he's going to be a positive force? He's a baseball player, not a community activist. If he's the best man for the job, and with the current assets in place he clearly is, then play the man. If people want him gone, too bad. He didn't make Soriano and Soto suck this year. His attitude is not why they are going to miss the playoffs. His absence is not going to make them better via happiness. They still need baseball players, and as much as a douche as he is, he's still a baseball player. Until they can get a better player, they have to keep him. Positive productive force. Meaning is he going to take the field to freaking play or douche his way through next year. Although, I see you point. Might as well keep him and roll the dice. You have nothing to lose and we have nobody to take his place anyway.

  17. Either way we are screwed. I'd rather get rid of him and be sucky, then have to deal with this again and still be sucky next year. The most important issue is to be not sucky next year. Trying to make the Bradley situation work is the best way to do that. Which is to get rid of him.
  18. Either way we are screwed. I'd rather get rid of him and be sucky, then have to deal with this again and still be sucky next year. At least we'll have some kind of replacement if we ship him out this year. There's nothing good about this situation. ZERO!
  19. If Bradley is still a Cub next year I give it exactly 2 weeks before he becomes a problem again, and that's counting ST.
  20. hey fans, look at jim hendry stick up for you...you don't want that guy fired, do you? I cannot defend Bradley's actions this year. However, in what way are Hendry's comments any different than Bradley's? Using the media to communicate with each other is not just a horrible idea, but just plain stupid. Bradley proved that. Hendry only further illustrates that. Hendry and Bradley deserve each other, but...somewhere else. They are different.
  21. Do you honestly see any hope of this situation being rectified at this point? It's not happening. Absolutely. Somebody above Lou, Hendry, and Ryan Dempster needs to take charge of the situation, be it Crain Kenney or Ricketts himself. When a new regime comes in to takeover, the last way you want to start off is by flushing 20 million down the [expletive]. They have 6 months to hug it out. I can guarantee, if Milton Bradley helps the Cubs to the 2010 World Series, all will be forgiven. Hell, MB can bring Louis Farrakhan as his guest of honor to the celebration for all I care. Until the next time he gets booed. When a player is this miserable it won't take much to set him off again.
  22. Do you honestly see any hope of this situation being rectified at this point? It's not happening.
  23. And Bradley wasn't suspended for the first rant he did either. He's been a miserable player for most of the year. There's only so much a organization can take.
