  1. Thanks... So with the very small sample size of at bats with the Cubs he's seeing over 4 pitches per plate appearance (very good), and his BA/BIP is .071 (statistically that has to improve) .... I'm not ready to write him off just yet... .286/.385/.777 And that's including an awful first 3-4 games. I'm still not advocating resigning him, but considering Barrett is hitting .230/.238/.528 in the same time period, maybe Hendry deserves some credit for this deal...or at least its not nearly the horrible trade that some made it out to be. He's been impressive once he settled in here. I still can't believe Barrett numbers? Flat out brutal!
  2. I'm calling out a Marquis gem tonight. 7 innings letting up 2 runs.
  3. The inconsistency of these umps are driving me crazy this year.
  4. i hate him already Figures, something bad happened to a Cardinals prospect and he still is going to come back and be a productive player on offense no less It really is amazing. These kinda things always happens to the Cards. I swear.
  5. I miss Aramis Ramirez. Who doesn't. It really does suck!
  6. GOOD! No reason for this trade.
  7. And we have 20 Second baseman. Go figure...
  8. Even to billionaires millions of dollars do matter. It's a negative to the bottom line. It all depends on ego too and why they purchased the team. Baseball isn't very profitable in the grand scheme of a billionaire buying a team compared to other potential ventures of similar cost. They won't lose money, but if their ego plays a role their profit margin can be reduced at the expense of competition and self-valuation (even a word?) You are totally missing the point. I'm saying that until the team is sold the bottom line does matter. After it's sold the new owner can spend all he wants...

  10. Perhaps Hendry was being told that there would be additional money available right up until the point that the sale was announced, at which time he was told something different, namely that no money would be available. In fact that's precisely what's widely believed to have happened. So you're saying he was a freaking moron for taking his bosses' instructions at face value. I'm saying he's a freaking moron if he couldn't put 2 and 2 together. The Cubs sale was speculated on for a long time. He had to have an idea that money may get tied up if something went down. He screwed up the team from 2003-2006, he should have gone in 2007 with the best team possible and not just hoped he'd be able to fix it on the fly in July. How would've he known it would be this year?
  11. Didn't he sit our a few games in the first half because of a sore wrist? I think that was Ram?
  12. Which might be the reason for his lack of power. If you have a sore hand and sore knee you aren't going to be too productive. Even if he plays he's not going to be the same Ram from the first half of the year, if these injuries linger all year long.
  13. Looks like we'll still be 1 out after today. Unreal...
  14. Ned Yost is an idiot for leaving him in to get shelled like this. Their pen has been used and abused. Someone had to take the beating.
  15. Are you sure 'bout that?
  16. Sorry, I can't embrace okay ness. I want the Cubs to be great. You know what I wanted for lunch today? A steak. All we had around here were hot pockets. I guess I'll just go hungry? No, I ate a hot pocket. And I'd be a fool to restrain my enjoyment of it just because it wasn't "great." Presumably you've eaten steak once in your life though, as opposed to the zero times you've seen a truly great Cubs team. I have, and I enjoyed the steak well enough to want it again. The 2003 team (greatness aside, since that's ambiguous) was very succesful and incredibly fun to watch, thus I know what I'm missing during the Cubs less-than-average years. Was that your point? by the way, the hot pocket was quite good. 2003 was an above average team that had a nice run. Great teams win 90+ games and contend year-in year-out. The Cubs have never been great in your lifetime. So the 2003 team was more of a Prime USDA Steak. We need a more of a Angus or Kobe type of steak to get to the WS.
  17. A guess or a report you heard somewhere? ESPN1000 In that case, I have a bad feeling Pie's going to head back down once the DL stint is over. I'm also not sure that there's any guarantee he'll be playing much. Not if he starts to hit.
