Corey - swung at a fastball strike right down the middle but missed it Hairston - struck out on a ball way out of the strike zone that would have been ball four I'd take Hairston's at bat everytime. Hairston ran the count full, then struck out on a good pitch. Corey fouled out to the catcher on the first pitch. The ball Hairston swung at was nearly in the dirt. I like it when people swing at meaty strikes and watch balls. I don't care what the count is. And I like it when guys get on base more than 28% of the time. Therefore I'll give Hairston more credit for his pitch selection. -

It would have been ok not to pinch run Hairston for Walker if you're planning on using Hairston as a pinch hitter in the ninth. That obviously wasn't the case though.
