  1. You must not be watching a lot of baseball this year. The Pirates have scored half as many runs as the Cubs this year. Ha! Check back in a month and see what it looks like.
  2. This is one of the worst offenses I've ever seen.
  3. May want to start splitting the two lefties up in the lineup.
  4. Was the ball DeJesus hit close to going out? Gameday made it look close.
  5. Somehow the Grizzlies took 116 shots last night and were only fouled on two of them. Almost 50 shots were taken inside the paint. The Lakers shot 34 free throws to the Grizzlies 5. Oh and Kobe played 52 minutes without committing a foul. Is it even possible to shoot 116 times and only be fouled on two of those?
  6. Apparently he won his appeal. Wow. According to CBSsports.
  7. Darren (LA) Junior Lake good enough to be in Cubs top 10 within a year? Klaw (1:58 PM) Only if someone teaches him how to play baseball.
  8. Ryan (Dallas) Thoughts on one of the most debated guys from the 2011 draft: Dan Vogelbach? Klaw (1:51 PM) Heavy D? Maybe if he gets to AA and is still productive and conditioned enough to play, we can talk.
  9. iirc, he also (rightfully) called Vitters, whom he placed 8th, a "non-prospect" last summer Seeing that list and how Simpson has worked out so far it's almost a fierable selection. What an awful awful draft pick.
  10. I think his top 100 comes out today. Might be interesting.
  11. What does this have to do with him being chill and humble? Odd thing to include in your Brady rant.
  12. I think I'm ok with this. Who know's what Theo's intentions were when he first got here. But after taking inventory he and Hoyer obviously feel this is the best way to go about builidng a consistent winner.
  13. Bruce Levine is on ESPNnews and he thinks that Hoyer will get his own press conference later in the week. He also acted like he knew what the compensation was.
  14. Who'd we give up????
  15. Yeah, I feel bad for the people that can only dwell on the playoff sweep. Yes, the ending sucked, but it's a long baseball season ahead of it, and it was pretty [expletive] great. I went to like 15-20 games that year...including two in Cincy and one at Milwaukee...the last game of that series sweep when we pulled away from them in late July. Season was a [expletive] blast. Except we weren't left handed enough.
  16. And it's not like he hasn't pulled this stuff before. When he first got here the only place he felt comfortable was leadoff. The year before in Washington, he threatened to basically quit if the was moved from second to left. Now all of a sudden he doesn't like hitting lower than 6th. I think it's pretty obvious he has a much higher opinion of his baseball playing ability than most every other person alive. His slash line this year is beyone horrible.
  17. This is what Law said about Maples pre-draft. We signed four of Law's top 77. Not bad at all. If you want pure arm strength, Maples is among the most enticing arms in the class, but you have to close your eyes a little bit on the delivery. His velocity has crept up all spring and he's easily 92-97 with, on pure movement, one of the best sliders in the draft. It is hard and sharp, with good tilt at 77-80. His arm is very quick but he generates most of the velocity from his upper body, with a good stride but minimal hip rotation and too much of an arm wrap in the back. He cuts himself off badly when he lands and often doesn't even land squarely, none of which is helping his command any. The pure stuff is very appealing, but I think Maples is ultimately a pen guy, and with a strong commitment to UNC and the general reluctance within the industry to draft future relievers out of high school, there's a good chance he goes to college.
  18. Not a good reference on whether the injury affected his power. He hasnt hit more than 3 home runs in a season since. I know we've been making fun of the Pierre comparison, but I'd gladly take a Pierre type career from Szczur. He had some pretty good peak years in the early 2000's. If Tony Campana or Evan Crawford were to become Juan Pierre, Id be thrilled. If Matt Szczur were to become Juan Pierre, Id be dissapointed. I don't know. I just don't see Szczur's ceiling being that much higher than 01' to 04' Pierre. He should produce a little more power, but Pierre's 4 year peak was around .320/.370/.370. Would we really be dissapointed if Szczur put those numbers up over a 4 year stretch? Along with 60 or so stolen bases.

  20. Based purely on upside, I'd add Dunston Jr. to the top 20 if we're able to sign him. I've seen several places mention he'll likely be a 1st round pick if he decides to go to Vandy.
  21. Keith Law yesterday, tweeted something to the affect of Vitters being a non-prospect at this point.
  22. I'd gladly take that line over the next 3 years. I doubt Pujols/Fielder will be worth 12-15 million more than that. Pena has had an OBP that high twice in his career, and a SLG that high once. I said i'd gladly take that line for the next 3 years. I was speaking hypothetically. So then what's the point of noting that Pujols/Fielder won't be that much better? The reason those guys would get more money is they are better bets to be significantly better. You pay a premium for dependable quality. I was just referring to the previous poster who said he didn't want the powers that be to try and retain him. If he could put that line over three years I'd have no problem retaining him.
