  1. Are you sure that's Wrigley? It kinda looks more like a large crowd at new Comiskey. __________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  2. Well-said! The other day, I went to a WSox talk board -- I needed to practice rolling my eyes, and I thought this would be a good place to do it -- and people were talking down the Cubs, as usual. They started comparing this year's Cubs to their '05 team and saying that unless the Cubs went 11-1 in the postseason, they'd be an inferior WS champ. WHO CARES???????? ________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  3. Thanks a lot! I'm gonna have nightmares for the next week! ________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  4. I hope I'm not looking ahead too much, but. . . what are your preferences -- if any -- for wild card winners, assuming we win the Central? Brewers, Cardinals, Mets, Fish, Phils? Also, would you prefer the D'backs or Dodgers to come out of the west? _______________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  5. This has "Rocky Colavito" or, for us Cubs fans, "Bobby Murcer" written all over it. While the Sox gave up absolutely nothing, they really have to catch "lightening in a bottle" for this to be worth the effort. On the other hand, it will probably sell a couple hundred more tickets. Jim Edmonds has been a good signing and, with this, is looking even better! _________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  6. Amen to that. ___________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  7. I'd take Ted Sizemore for Marquis. ______________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  8. I was as big of a Murton and Patterson fan as anyone a while ago, but I honestly now don't see Murton being anything more than a 4th OF and Patterson even being a serviceable bench guy. Yeah, until they put on Cardinals unis someday and become instant all-stars. :( _____________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  9. Did you see the kid take the beer cup from his dad and take a pretty good sip during the last half inning? Len and Bob said nothing and I'm surprised the director didn't cut away from that shot sooner. Beer's too expensive to waste on kids. ___________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  10. Interesting topic. Also interesting -- to me, anyway -- that there are no disparaging names cast at the other two teams. On a Cardinal or Brewer forum, one would read comments about the Flubs or Scrubs. But I don't see anything about Birdbrains or Lewzers or anything like that on this forum; only an occaisional White Sox, and not too often for that, either. Just an observation. . . _______________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  11. I can see the new signs above the tickets windows at the south side baseball stadium: "We accept, cash, Mastercard, Visa, Discover and food stamps." Love it. ________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  12. Huzzah! Huzzah! However, I don't want this guy at the all-star game. I want him resting and not doing anything in the least bit dangerous to his health, including using sharp knives and can openers. Send someone to his apartment and make sure there are no loose carpet threads over which he can trip. Don't let him have any pets with teeth or claws, like cats or dogs or pirahnas. Hopefully, we'll need him in October.
  13. Well, after Reed's "The Catch" against the Nats last night, this ain't gonna happen, for sure. _______________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  14. Yeah, and the Roberts trade. . . What's he hitting, around .260 for the O's? Ronny's doing well, Marshall's doing well, and Gallagher's ERA is under 2 at AAA. Andy's probably kicking himself for not pulling the trigger. ___________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  15. I'm with the group that believes Dusty should have gone out, toothpick firmly planted in his front teeth, and told Prior, "Dude. Chill. What are you gonna do, man? Just chill." Since he was still in his first (honeymoon) year, the players probably would have responded. But he offered no leadership, IMHO. Yeah, and Gonzalez. He hasn't returned for any Cub Conventions, has he? He'd be as popular as Billy Buck at a Red Sox Convention. You know, this whole topic makes me nauseous. _________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  16. Thanks for the pics. I love the place. I'm going Saturday with my son -- he's turning 21 and he'd better buy me a beer -- and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully, we'll be a .500 team by then. _______________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  17. Don't know anything about him, but you've got to like the name: Alberto Alburquerque ________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  18. Remember the good old days? You know, when we used to talk about reaching page 250? ______________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  19. Agreed! And I am looking forward to the time when Guillen or the Sox players can't take any more of Stone's criticism. Perhaps we'll have a repeat of the LaRussa/Piersall episode, in which the manager "came after" the color guy -- I love those post-game fireworks. _____________________________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  20. I certainly wouldn't go, that place is just unsafe. Its in the ghetto. I went there once for an interleague game and just about got knifed in the parking lot before the game. You're kidding, right? I don't think the mayor or Reinsdorf would much to say about the Cubs playing at USCellular Stadium - not a ballpark - if Wrigley were owned by the same state authority. And, yeah, it would be kind of neat to win the World Series while playing home games there. I only hope it's our third in a row, or at least the second in three years. ___________________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  21. Exactly..Also the Jason Kidd trade..These trades happen out of nowhere and get done right away..Why do we have to wait so freakin long and hear rumors for like 4 months Neither Angelos nor MacPhail were involved in those trades. Hence, they're done lickety-split.
  22. "Hart and Gallagher also did not pitch today. Don't know but If I hope it has nothing to do 'trade related'" I don't think Z or Lilly pitched today, either. Hmmmmm. . .
  23. I hope Marquis has a great spring, so that he can be a key component of the BRoberts trade. (Uh, am I in the wrong thread?) ______________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  24. I checked and, as of 7:30pm, there are 28 sell-outs, including all three SF games. Without BBonds to heckle, what's the attraction? Ray Durham? I'm surprised that two of the Marlins games, two or three Pirates games and one or two Nats games are already sold out. Maybe because so many of the home games are in April this year -- almost all those are available. The Rox, Cards and Brewers I can understand, but the Pirates??? ___________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  25. Wow, only five more minutes 'til tix go on sale on the net -- or not. _________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
