  1. I like the new term. http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm16/dhohulin/capt4life.jpg
  2. other than my last avatar with LD on Clint's back from the confed's cup? I haven't really noticed. After the world cup draw, Nike did the evening with Landon thing and they were complimentary of each other there. I could see them not being best buds just based on how Clint never seems to shy from calling people out and Landons perceived sensitivity but I doubt it's much of an issue.
  3. Where do you get that sense from?
  4. There's a thread at Big Soccer about Landon v Tim Cahill. Am I crazy to think that Landon is better than Cahill and it's not really that hard of a call? Cahill's international score sheet reads like a who's who of stat padders, he's three years older than Landon and really plays his role fantastically for Everton, but if you're talking who is the guy you'd want to start from scratch with, Landon is better. He's faster, better at taking people on, he's the better passer and he tracks back and plays better defense. Whatever combination of luck, confidence and courage Cahill has over than Landon has led to a more accomplished European club career, but Landon has the better international record and can just plain do more on the pitch. I think it's the perfect example of something I've long thought in the various Landon discussions over the years. Landon has both benefited and suffered from being the big fish in the small pond for these many years. He's never been able to find one role, stick to it and master it. He's had to be everything to everybody. Cahill could have been a big fish in a small pond, but when he was coming up, the A league wasn't an option to him like MLS was to Landon, so he got out of the small pond and signed for Millwall. He's been allowed to master a role that he does well. Maybe I just haven't watched enough Cahill and am being a homer. As long as I'm going there, 4 years from now, at age 30, Clint Dempsey will unquestionably be better than Tim Cahill. He is now, for my money. Cahill's got that glorious forehead, but without support players like Landon and Clint, a guy like that wouldn't be rated quite so highly.
  5. I'd be okay with Jozy going to a club like that after the world cup when playing time isn't such an immediate concern, but I don't think Bradley is ready for that kind of level. There are plenty of great midfielders with some steel out there who would be better fit for a club like Arsenal.
  6. Oh btw, the Beasley rumor going around is that he's Terrying some Glasgow gangster's lady.
  7. Yeah he made some nice runs, took some guys on well, but I'd give him about a 5-6. No one for Everton played better than that. That was a terrible performance. Jozy was a force today. That goal has been coming because he's deserved one since he's come back. He's really been throwing people around and giving opposing defenders hell the last few games. I could see him going on a really good run of form if Hull continues to play with the kind of pressure they have lately. Ironically it's better for him that they keep playing good, technical teams. When they get in their relegation battles, Brown really throws on the brakes. His partnership with J VoH has been solid. They'll give any back line problems with their strength, but Jozy's runs seem to really open up space for VoH and Hunt. Hunt in particular.
  8. Crazy stuff. Speaking of bombs... http://sport.scotsman.com/rangersfc/DaMarcus-Beasley-car-fire-was.6037185.jp
  9. It's starting to be like wrapping your feet in some plastic wrap with spikes on the bottom.
  10. Looks like he played well.
  11. Are you sure about that? My understanding is that FSC+ will have different programming (probably good number of games that Setanta has now) and FSC and FSC+ will both be offered in HD. Definitely not sure. I hope you're right. On a pitch worse than most MLS pitches, in a stadium worse than most MLS stadiums. Against competition probably similar.
  12. It's coming in March and it will be a separate channel called FSC plus.
  13. Should have guessed.
  14. That's really interesting. When the brain goes through traumatic experiences it sometimes resets to a set of memories that took place before the event. So he must have reset to after the clincher in Honduras 3 days earlier. Crazy stuff.
  15. Wow. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/story/_/id/4856256/ce/us/davies-remarkable-path-recovery?cc=5901&ver=us That's incredible. I wonder if there's a possibility of HGH use or something like that. This is certainly unexpectedly good progress. Not that I'd care. In fact, if he isn't on it now, I'll buy him some to get him back. Also this is gross:
  16. Ronaldinho's penalty wasn't a penalty, Lucio's first yellow was not card worthy and his second was borderline. I would've kept it in my pocket given that it was his second. Sneijder's red was of course, a joke. I couldn't tell which Inter player it was wearing the cartoony Berlusconi mask after the game, but I thought that was awesome. Milan's strikers are terrible and that midfield is older than dirt. There's been some good feeling leading up to the derby with their recent run of good form, but that definitely flattered to deceive. That club has some serious, deep endemic problems and it doesn't look like they are going to be getting any better any time soon. Seriously, who from this roster is going to be there in 2 years that's any good? Pato and?
  17. Also it's hard to factor, but to me it seems like teams like Egypt and Algeria do well in the ACN because they don't have big players on big clubs anxious to get back or anxious to avoid injury. C d'I in particular has seemed like they wanted to leave after the Togo incident. This is just going off of what I've heard and read since we don't get games here. Btw, Holden officially signed with Bolton.
  18. I don't even know who this Bedoya guy is and since I fast forwarded through the match after the red card I don't know if he or anyone else was any good. That was worthless and unwatchable.
  19. I still think we'd be favorites to come out of the group 2nd. Algeria has been awful in the ACN and Slovenia shouldn't scare us. Holden or Feilhaber would be adequate out right. Landon could pinch in on the left. Who plays up front? Jozy and...who cares. I'm not saying it's pretty by any means. In fact, it sucks. Especially considering Jozy's current garbage form. I just think it can finish 2nd. Might not, but could. God this sucks. Anyway, here are some rumors: Boca to St Etienne is a sale. Clark plays for Eintract Frankfurt now and Bolton not done with Holden contrary to reports. Spanish interest in Feilhaber.

Ives has Holden to Braga: http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/01/report-bolton-passes-on-holden-who-is-set-to-sign-with-braga.html and Bradley sounding optimistic, or at least not ruling a return out: http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/01/usa-training-camp-notebook-bob-bradley-addresses-clint-dempsey-situation.html
  21. http://theoriginalwinger.com/2010-01-18-thierry-henry-to-new-york-red-bulls-with-raul#more-27281 Raul + Thierry Henry to NYRB. That would be how you kick off opening the best stadium in the league. Holy s. I don't know who's providing the service, but they'll score some damn goals.
  22. Apparently he's about to move to St Etienne on loan with option to buy.
  23. A little perspective if it is what they say it is. Gooch ruptured the patella and is going to be back in time. They're thinking Clint only tore his cruciate, so he should be back in around three months. He should consider a loan spell to MLS to get into shape in the lead up to SA.
  24. I'm going to inject heroin into my forehead if Deuce misses South Africa. F
