  1. http://d.yimg.com/a/p/ap/20090724/capt.18a99a41d1d34e899cf1cf5606f6f972.reds_cubs_baseball_cxc108.jpg So nice to see again. And just because it's worth a chuckle, http://d.yimg.com/a/p/ap/20090724/capt.68bfbe0fa5d2430a97ae48f47a4c2ff9.reds_cubs_baseball_cxc106.jpg The ivy says "nom nom nom."
  2. Guy told ESPN he's not a machine; all depends on whether you believe him or not.
  3. In your defense, he wouldn't have been credited with a blown save because it wasn't a save situation. Beyond that, I refuse to praise him because the moment he hears any of it, he'll remember he's Kevin Gregg and snap back to reality. :-$
  4. Olney says the deal will happen and Drabek is included.
  5. Haha that was fun. Play it Steve Goodman!
  6. Alright, 3G, you've had your fun, get the last out now please.
  7. Gregg facing Gom-- no, forget him Hanigan, Gonzalez and if anyone gets on, the pitcher's spot. Howsabout another boring, uneventful 9th inning?
  8. Oh lord, Ramirez sliding into second looked like a lower body injury waiting to happen.
  9. You advocate jettisoning Koyie, then? Stay up all night thinking of that one, did you?
  10. Phillies sources say this is "just about done."
  11. "Sing the Dickens out of this" I get it!
  12. I don't have a link for this, but supposedly MLBN says the Phillies are closing in on Halladay. Do with it what you will.
  13. This guy looks like one of Davey Jones crew from Pirates of the Carribean The right side of his face looks like it's about to hatch something.
  14. It's mind-boggling to think that three historic moments in baseball - Jim Thome's 500th home run and Mark Buehrle's two no-hitter games - will forever have Hawk's godawful calls associated with them. The television call of the 500th home run for Jim Thome, one of the game's greats, is essentially an unintelligible mashup of "THABALLHIDEEP! WAYBAK! YOUCANPUTITONNABORDEEEEYES!" I would hope that if the Hall of Fame ties a designated call to the recorded historical moments they document, they use the White Sox radio calls, which are at the very least intelligible.
  15. Pat: "It looks like some rain is on the way." Ron: "So far... it just does not smell like rain." Pat: "How does rain smell?" Ron: "It's a wet smell." Pat: "Well, ask a silly question..." *wild pitch* Pat: "There's a little bit of raggedness to this game tonight. Balls in the dirt, some mishandled plays in the field." Ron: "That's quite a word, 'raggedness.' That's pretty good. I'd be afraid to say it... because I didn't know it was a word." Pat: "It has kind of a wet smell to it."
  16. This, and their braying donkey of a television announcer.
  17. Have the Cubs really been linked to a "big deal" yet? I don't think Sherrill or even Sanchez really qualify as such, do you?
  18. This isn't verbatum, but I think the gist is there. Pat: "You know, Ron, Marissa Miller will be at Wrigley Field tomorrow to throw out the first pitch." Ron: "Really? Isn't that nice." Pat: "That's right, Ron. The promotions staff was up here earlier asking if we could squeeze her into the broadcast for an inning--" Ron: "Well we could sure squeeze her, alright." One of my personal favorites, from the 2005 Cactus League: Pat: "And Scott Spezio has entered the game at third base for the Mariners." Ron: "Ohhhh... Scott Spezio... is he, uh, still in baseball, Pat?" Pat: "Well, he's over there at third base, Ron." WGN Radio released a "best of Pat and Ron" CD in 2005, covering the best broadcast moments since Pat signed on in 1996 and it was worth every penny. It was only available through direct order from WGN Radio themselves and I can't find a listing of any sort on their website, so it may be gone forever.
