Nunez made it in there despite the fact that the ball beat him there, it was just a bad job of tagging him out by ARAM. I saw differently, but maybe you saw something I didn't. It's frustrating at any rate.
I don't disagree with that, but I would question giving up a player/players to acquire a talented player that's blocked at both of his possible positions for the forseeable future. The only immediate value I could see him having to the Cubs (if he weren't packaged and used as a trading chip) would be as an Olmedo Saenz/Russell Branyan-type player on the bench, a corner infielder with some pop.
Where exactly would the Cubs play Encarnacion? The only positions he's played in the majors are third base with a pair of appearances at first, and he hasn't played at shortstop, a position the Cubs could actually use him at, since A ball in 2002.
Baltimore would love to get a pitcher like Z, but I don't think they'd be willing to trade Tejada, given that the closest thing they have to another shortstop would be Chris Gomez or Brandon Fahey, hitting .165 at Triple-A Norfolk.
