Boston's best position prospect is a kid named Dustin Pedroia. Pedroia had been playing 2B in the minors because the organization had Renteria and Hanley Ramirez ahead of him, but when he was drafted out of Arizona State, he was a shortstop. And not only was he a shortstop, but he was voted the best defensive player in college baseball his junior year. Maybe they'll switch him back there? I suppose they could start the season with Alex Cora there, as well. Maybe make a move for someone like Jack Wilson... either way, the best news for the Red Sox is that they can move on from Renteria.
