  1. that would be Nike. I dont know wtf theyre thinking either. The pass interference call, I could go either way on. The one that I thought was mindblowingly terrible was the "AD fumble at the goal line" where he was stopped, rolled completely over, and then had the ball stripped. No way he wasn't already down. Oh well, a win is a win is a win. Slight disagreement, Nike only makes the uni, I'm sure they're not in the business of telling college teams what uniforms to wear. Nike makes uniforms for lots of different schools and none of them look as awful as those.
  2. That call was absolute BS!!! No way that ball was catchable.
  3. I hate to sound like a woman who talks about what uniforms look like instead of what is going on in the game, but whoever is in charge of deciding what uniforms to use for Oregon should be fired IMMEDIATELY. Note to that person or persons: MAKE UP YOUR FREAKING MIND on a look and stick with it for a season or 2. I'm no Okie fan, but I found myself cheering for them based on uniform alone. WTF was up with the pickup truck toolbox look on the kneepads!!! And the school name on the legs, yeesh. Hideous!!!
  4. I am so very tired of fUSC that it's not even a question, but as far as the NC game goes, I'd just as soon see the world end before it's played. I can't stand either team. With that said I'd probably have to pull for TU even though it may hurt LSU's recruiting a bit.
  5. I wouldn't hold my breath that Bama beats LSU this weekend. LSU has way more offensive weapons, but how well they will get used is the question. It'll likely be a defensive struggle. Especially with Prothro out. Of course I'm a little biased.
  6. My Dad and WGN in the afternoons after I got home from school. Watching Jody Davis, Leon Durham, Ryno, the Sarge, Shawon, Ron Cey and listening to Harry butcher names all game long. My Dad still complains about one of the most boneheaded trades ever. Ahh, the memories.
  7. I can't believe this would even be up for debate. In my mind the Cubs would require far too much compensation to interest the Phillies.
  8. I'm sorry, but I just can't back the Astros. I actually despise them more than I do the Cardinals. So I say, GO SOX!!!
  9. at the LSU/Florida game last weekend. Unfortunately, it was on my way out of the restroom, so I didn't get a chance to really talk with him (not that he would have given me the time of day to discuss such things). However, when I told him I hoped he would be back on the team, he really seemed to appreciate it and he may have even said he wanted to, too. I know it's not much to go on, but for those of us who want him back, there's hope. ::Fingers crossed::
  10. Count me in.
  11. I'm glad someone else on here sees it the same way I do. Just imagine having another team and its fans to pile on and gloat at the Cubs expense. And they will if the Astros' win. OH BOY, GOOD TIMES!!!! It kinda be like having the Marlins win another WS, except this franchise has been around for about 40 years.
  12. Without question, the Cardinals. Unfortunately :x
  13. After having lived in Houston a while back, knowing some of their fans and going to some of their games, I just can't bring myself to cheer for the Astros'. Although I don't want to see any of these teams in the World Series, I could live with it being the Sox and Cardinals. I could careless who wins the Series of those 2, cause both options stink. Actually all 3 options stink. The good news (for Cub fans) is that 2 out of these three teams (Astros, Cards, Sox) will end the season as losers. I know this maybe sacreligious for a Cubs fan to say, but frankly I'd rather see the Cards win it all of the 3. Unfortunately, for them it's going to be a tall task to get there. And personally, I think the preference of Cubs' fans is based largely on the region in which they live.

  15. Guess it depends on where one lives. Since I live in Louisiana, I know of plenty of Astros' fans and don't like most of them. And unlike you, if the Astros' were to win it all, I would have to deal with a TON of them down here. Believe you me they are a bunch I don't care to deal with much. Angels>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cardinals>>>White Sox>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Astros'
  16. I totally agree. I hate the Cards, but at least their fans show up at the ballpark every day (not just for the playoffs and the days Rocket pitches), and aren't fickle, fair weather chumps who make themselves scarce when their team isn't doing so well. Right or wrong, I guess much of my perception of other teams depends on their fans. And that being the case, I can at least respect most Cards fans. I can't say the same of most Astros fans. Agree 100% with both of you. Having lived in Houston for some time a couple years back, I was able to witness firsthand the Astros' fan base. It is generally a very laissez faire group that only shows up when it counts. I get the impression they are very similar to the Dodgers fans in L.A. That being said I'd like to see the Cards win the NL then be bounced by any team out of the AL not named the Yankees. Come on Angels!!!
  17. I think she's a skank. Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion on one of her best assets, I don't like her lips.
  18. I'd like to think my hatred for them is unequaled, but I guess yours is pretty bad too.
  19. would you be a nice compromise if it was rebuilt with the assurance from the locals that if it floods again the Fed. government is not remotely responsible for the cost of the repair? I would have absolutely no problem with the government keeping their hands out. They have proven themselves to be very ineffective such efforts. The only government involvement I'd like to see would be help in the cleanup effort and tax breaks for those individuals and corporations that invest their time, money and effort into the repair/rebuild process.
  20. I sure hope so. I want the Cubs to make it as difficult as possible for the Astros' to make the playoffs. It would do my heart so good to see the Cubs' keep 'em out. Let's go Philly!!!
  21. Put yourself in the shoes of a businessman or homebuyer looking to return to New Orleans after the water is drained. Now that you've seen what a cat 4 hurricane can do, would you invest hundreds of thousands or in some cases many millions of dollars to construct or repair a building before a new containment system is built - one can that withstand a cat 5 hurricane? How could you justify such a reckless decision to stockholders or family members? I certainly could not, nor do I think many other people could. Another question - what bank would be foolish enough to issue loans to people reckless enough to rebuild before a better containment system is in place? How about insurance? I can't see how rebuilding can begin with the same crappy levies. The same banks and like-minded loan officers that grant loans to people who insist on rebuilding in other natural disaster zones like California and Florida. As for the businessman and homebuyer issue, I think you underestimate the value of the area to those with such an entreprenurial spirit and their very spirit for that matter. As long as the area is considered tourist hotspot (and it will be again at some point, probably within the 5-7 yrs. you estimate) it will attract the business minded. It's a matter of risk/reward. It's a gamble of course, but life indeed is a gamble. I get the feeling your not much of a gambler.
  22. What people of New Orleans? By the time the city is ready to be inhabited again the residents will have spent years in homes and careers elsewhere. At that point there won't be a "people of New Orleans". I really think this is going to be a permanent move for the great majority of the people who have been displaced. You apparently are unaware of the resolve and links to that area that many natives of New Orleans feel. After those natives have been gone for 5-7 years, ask them if they want to chuck their new jobs and homes to return to NO, after having left under extremely unpleasant circumstances. No doubt SOME will want to return, but I'm guessing you overestimate their number. There's a strong tendency to inertia in the average person's life. People will be gone long enough to get into a happy rut in their new homes. I think occasional trips to the city will be enough to satisfy the average person's sentimentality. While I know it will be some time before things are back to anything resembling the New Orleans I know and love, 5-7 years seems like an awfully arbitrary time frame. One, by the way, I think you overestimate.
