  1. I believe they changed it, although this description on ESPN's website for ESPN2 isn't very definitive: ESPN2's Telecast of The World Baseball Classic Is presented by Taco Bell: Andre Agassi vs. Paul Goldstein  I always wondered how baseball would be with tennis rackets.
  2. Uhh... He lives in Louisiana... but maybe if he ever visits Chicago he could go there.
  3. Did the World Baseball Classic ever have any issues with the World Boxing Council for similer initials? I remember when I was a wrestling fan, they had to change the name from WWF to WWE because World Wildlife Fund had the same initials.
  4. No one's really stopping others from starting discussions.
  5. What channel will the next game be shown? (If it will be?) http://www.worldbaseballclassic.com/2006/schedule/index.jsp?mc=television&sid=wbc "Japan vs Pool B Runner-up" only has Deportes.
  6. Wow... I nearly thought this was a creative topic title referring to Sammy's middle name, Peralta.
  7. Good thing Oswalt isnt in the WBC.
  8. I dont get it. According to Dusty, dark skinned players play better in the heat.
  9. http://img320.imageshack.us/img320/3272/3dflagsdotcomusa2fawm4dj.gif Vs. http://img320.imageshack.us/img320/2920/southac3zp.gif First of all I would like to notify you all, this game will take place tomorrow at 2:00 pm CT... but it will not be televised until Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 a.m. in the morning on ESPN (regular) and ESPN Deportes. Those of you who have MLB.TV and GameDay Audio can see and listen to it live... The South Africa Vs. Mexico game just ended so the scheduled starter for South Africa hasnt been announced. With no disrespect to South Africa, everyone is treating games against them like a "laugher, a tuneup"... Now if that is so, why start Dontrelle Willis against Canada... and Roger Clemens against South Africa? Why not the other way around?
  10. What annoys me is that people attack him because of his lack of power, or lack of really good contact. Greg Maddux does not have much velocity, but he does what he can... which is a lot. Pierre also does not have much power, but he still finds ways to be successful other than power. He focuses on what he has instead of dwelling on what he doesnt... and those kinds of players make you realize that you dont need to strike out every other hitter to be a good pitcher... You dont need to hit a home run every other at-bat...
  11. http://www.worldbaseballclassic.com/2006/schedule/index.jsp?mc=television&sid=wbc U.S. Vs. South Africa wont be televised until the NEXT day?? And at 2:00 AM CT on Saturday morning???
  12. What I dont get is... Why do players hesitate from playing in the WBC? They're getting the same playing time they would if they stayed back at the Cactus/Grapefruit league.
  13. According to Sut, game 3 will be played by performance and not everybody plays. We shall see. It doesnt matter if Tex or Lee are playing 1B... As long as they're both in the line-up. They're both gold glovers, so defense should not be a problem. But why should we complain? It's only benefitting the Cubs...
  14. I dont think it really matters... as long as U.S. makes it to the next round.
  15. I guess when teams are greatly pressured, they fail... but this one, thankfully isnt over.
  16. Boy, reminds you of the Cubs 2004/2005 offense.
  17. The game is now on ESPN's regular channel.
  18. 1 more out and this game will come on.
  19. And now theyre gonna leave to go back to a game that frankly, I don't care about, AND just when Derrek Lee is about to bat. Nice job, ESPN. Split screen as in, ESPN Alternate?
  20. http://www.virtuallandmedia.com/flags2-2/canada/CANADA2.GIF Vs. http://www.hellasmultimedia.com/webimages/fourthofjuly-htm/fourthofjuly/images/flags/usaflag6.gif This time U.S. will be facing their neighbors to the north. It will also be hosted at Chase Field (formerly The BOB) in Pheonix, Arizona. United States will once again get home field advantage. This game will start at 3:00 P.M. Central time. It will also be televised on ESPN2. So there you have it: 2B - Michael Young SS - Derek Jeter CF - Ken Griffey Jr. DH - Derrek Lee (Finally batting higher, and DH) 3B - Chipper Jones 1B - Mark Teixeira RF - Vernon Wells C - Jason Varitek LF - Matt Holliday and Dontrelle Willis taking the mound. The line-up for this game hasnt been posted currently, because South Africa Vs. Canada is taking place right now. If you do it, please post it here. Noteworthy Match-ups (Canada) Vs. Dontrelle Willis (LHP, 22-10, with a 2.63 ERA in 2005 for the Florida Marlins) Pete Orr: 0 for 3 with 3 SO (.000) Jason Bay: 3 for 12 with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 4 SO (.250) Noteworthy Match-ups (United States) Vs. Adam Loewen (LHP) Loewen has yet to throw a major league pitch... But he's only 22 starting a game in the WBC... No pressure, though.
