  1. I don't buy "hit the ball hard" as an excuse. "Hit the ball hard" etc. WHO CARES? If the batters fail to hit it where the defenders aren't, then they aren't fully doing their jobs.
  2. Hows this Lou's fault? The offense could not score to save their life. 84 pitches for your star pitcher in a tie game? Lou had a big part in this mess. But come on... Did you really expect Marmol to give up anything? It's really easy to second guess. The biggest mistake he made was not bunting with Z with the runner on 2B and no outs.

  4. Nice, nice. He swings at crap all night and when he gets something to drive, he watches it fall right in.
  5. Soriano will swing at a breaking ball 4 feet away in the dirt.
  6. [x] Barrett/Z fight - 13 minutes before the first pitch. [ ] $300 million [ ] Bartman
  7. A sign they showed on TBS: "THE CURSE OF THE GOAT IS ALIVE AND WELL." Hey. **** you.
  8. For the Cubs, yes. I remember the Bears Super-bowl thread was pretty big pre-game. We had 2 weeks to fill that up. Yeah, the Super Bowl game thread was a monster before the game had even started. Which makes sense-the Colts and Bears hadn't faced each other in quite a while, so there was a lot to discuss about how the teams matched up that isn't present for the Cubs and Diamondbacks who have seen each other a few times already this year. Also, all roster and injury news was discussed in the one thread rather than splitting it out like we have the last few days. I believe the Super Bowl thread has something like 120 pages before it started. 40 pages pre-game for a baseball thread (what it should be at the least by game time) is quite impressive I think. We only had a couple days for this thread. It also isn't a win or go home situation.
  9. "Some men see things as they are and say why - I dream things that never were and say why not." -- George Bernard Shaw I just felt like saying that.
  10. I'm really nervous also. I think I'm gonna barf... I'm still at work. At least you have the option of alcohol to calm your nerves. I'm rolling out of here at 8:55 central time and I live about 7 minutes away. Under 21. Maybe I can mix some rubbing alcohol into my Minute Maid.

  13. I'm starting to set my expectations low... So I'm content either way.
  14. Steve Stone! YES!
  15. Where was that in the ASG, Rowand?!
  16. What a brave, brave man. I mean, who the hell wants to play for Florida?
  17. If Cubs don't go all the way, we'll have the same scapegoat we did last time.
