  1. he was hurt for a while and then he has hit behind guys that have a sub .300 obp...and they were usually on first if they were on.
  2. first, that was for dalgreen, who thought you should feel bad if you cheer for the cubs to falter and they go 60-102 but dusty doesn't get fired. second, i am not whining. i said i wouldn't cheer against them but that i understood why someone would feel that way. third, i found it funny that someone would think how we cheer actually has an impact on our team....at least on the net
  3. i'm sorry, are you saying that our cheering really helps or hurts our team? if so then i guess we better pick it up because obviously it's not dusty's,hendry's or the player's fault...it's ours. we just haven't cheered enough!
  4. over 70 pitches with 1out in the fifth..i guess we will be testing our new and hopefully improved bullpen today!
  5. Are you kidding us? Let me guess, you'd trade a playoff appearance for a losing season just so Baker will get canned, right? Brilliant strategy. when will we be making the playoffs? we are 7 back....will we continue to play for the wild card when we are 15 out with 15 to play? I see absolutely no point in rooting against your team, period. And, there have been lots of teams who have come back from seven games out in August to win pennants or division titles. If the NL were stronger, than I'd be less optimistic. But it makes no sense to root against your team. i agree, i don't root against my team but we aren't making the playoffs , so i certainly understand why someone would say want the team to fail to get something done(like firing dusty), it's kind of like hoping you lose your last game to get the #1 pick in the draft
  6. they think it's a bar and the ticket price was the cover charge.....they are just waiting for the band to play.....

  8. something else to brighten our day...i was looking at the standings to see where the reds were...all of 4 back. then i realized we are basically as close to pittsburgh and last place as we are to houston and the wildcard....ehhh sure was money well spent this year!
  9. how is it a team as bad as cincy, has 5 outfielders that are better tahn any of ours? freel, pena, griffey, dunn, and kearns! of course if they sweep us they are right there with us in the standings..isn't that sad! can someone say hello pittsburgh!
  10. boy, this teams is really good......
  11. with the way tampa pitches the opposing batters may be worn out by the time jobo gets in! lol
  12. it took you til june 16th to get that feeling! i got as soon as i realized that jeremy burnitz was our big offseason pick up........
  13. my first choice would be to bring up pie and see what he could do. same with murton and cedeno. since we know they won't do that, how much worse could it be than macias in center? obviously he is not the answer for next season. we have gamble on arms and a few position guys that have worked...why not see? he is probably not the guy but who is? there are no great free agent fixes and because of that the few possibilities out there may be really expensive!
  14. well if we stuck to that how about these lines? .234 18 71 plus 23 errors in half a season before trade....we just paid him 12 mil aramis rameriz the last full season in pitt .215 14 54....our stud right fielder and #4 hitter, his last full year not in colorado .208 10 30....our stud catcher's last year before joining the cubs when you are not good why not try a guy who won't cost you anything, who has been pretty decent in his career. he has terrible stats this year but let's see if he is done or if he has something left in the tank.

  17. they do have some value. the problem is that they are our studs behind aram and lee. burnitz is below average, he has value because he plays hard and is left handed with some pop but when he is your #4 hitter and best offensive outfielder you are not a good team.
  18. everyone would love a healthy wood. but healthy or not it is a huge stretch to have to pay him 12 mil. that would be about 1 mil per win since his career high is 14. if he can be moved....he has to be moved this off season. paying him that type of money will keep this team from moving forward unless everything clicks and he is the 20 game winner we hoped he's be, but it is a huge gamble to take at that price!
  19. getting would mean you do not have to get big hitter at short. we could leave cedeno there and let him hit 7-8. you could also live with cpatt or murton in right. get a lead off guy for center and be set with really only spending for manny's contract. burnitz would be gone, nomar would be gone, we would be done with sammy, hairston or walker at 2nd. you have as good a 3-4-5 as anyone in the game. even with hairston with hairston in center it's still a nice lineup. move maddux and wood you would have a lot of money(21mil) for a starter/manny and a lead off guy.
  20. why not? if you aren't going to play pie or murton...why not see of he can play. we wouldn't have to pay him jack. we obviously need of and lead off help. he porbably isn't the answer but neither is hairston or macias. give him a six week tryout
  21. if we finish below the pirates(our class aaaa farm club) i gotta believe dusty and hendry are gone. last year we had serious injuries but we had far less damaging ones this year. i can't see the tribunw being very happy letting hendry spend 100 mil to finish below pittsburgh. their team is paid less than our pitchers!
  22. exactly. we need to leave williams and hill in the rotation for the rest of the season regardless of bad outings. it's time to see exactly where they are. that way we go into the offseason having a decent idea of what we have in those two. obviously it changes what we need if we KNOW they can hold done the 4-5 spots in the rotation as opposed to when we were hoping dubois could hold down on outfield spot this season. it probably might be a good idea to turn it over to cedeno and pie also come sept 1~
