  1. not gonna lie, i was feeling pretty ho-hum about our run total when javy hit his dong last night. things didn't feel right until that 9th inning.
  2. teams that won't make the playoffs are not worthy competition
  3. who are the good teams? the nats? fyi cubs have had the "hardest" strength of schedule in baseball so far I thought we've had one of the easiest schedules so far. The Angels suck, as do the Reds. Colorado is playing well now but they'll likely finish near the bottom of that division. Before the season started everyone was talking about how cream puff the first month of the season was going to be. good luck finding a month without us playing a bunch of games against sucky teams that are way worse than us http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/rpi/_/sort/sos again, fwiw, for the reasons i mentioned earlier. but everyone is playing a lot of games against bad teams. the difference is, we are bludgeoning those bad teams like they're in rookie ball or something.
  4. i had heard that this was their best 17 game start since 1970...which was kind of annoying in the way that the "since 1985" anecdotes are
  5. who are the good teams? the nats? fyi cubs have had the "hardest" strength of schedule in baseball so far Followed by the Reds, Angels, Dbacks and Rockies. i really meant to say fwiw instead of fyi there...yeah, i'm guessing we're kind of making our own schedule look harder by inflating the RPI of those teams because they faced us. but i wouldn't say the teams we faced are particularly worse than the schedule of most other teams. lots of bad teams in baseball.
  6. Ugh! There's nothing beautiful about Castro, and you can be sure the front office preferred Zobrist to Castro as well. Say what you want about Zobrist, at least he's capable of fielding a routine grounder without being distracted by the sky. your jerkiness makes me hate agreeing with you so much

  8. how do his strikeouts break out
  9. so basically i hated chip caray and the one good dusty legacy is that he got him and stone fired to pave the way for len and, ultimately, jd
  10. i just turned on my tv and mr 3000 was on mlb network...i have since been too lazy to change the channel. anyway, there was a clip on from the best damn sports show and i just remembered how that horsefeathering cheesy cornball tool chip caray refused to say thte name of the show and would say "best darn sports show" when he had to do the promos during our games and i want to punch his stupid face
  11. i'm not sure i like messing with the mojo and changing thread starters after wins but i guess with this team there is nothing to fear (and we'd never get through the list)
  12. that's like one game better than their pythag
  13. guess we're in the horsefeathering desert now
  14. apparently derwood has been banned from at least this subforum or something lol
  15. odds that mojo or omc know that straily was ever on the cubs?
  16. this guy http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/5203.png&w=350&h=254 (he's a big ugly doofus, but he's ours and he's going to kick ass) goes up against this former cub throw-in (both to and from) http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/32563.png&w=350&h=254 he sucks. his stats superficially look OK but he sucks. walk and dong him to death.
  17. it's actually bukie's turn but he probably didn't realize it (since the cubs won and having a turn start after a cubs win would be unusual) because you fucked up the whole process by missing your turn twice (in part because, as you explained it, you fell asleep in the 9th inning of a cubs no hitter) and leaving fred no choice but to skip your turn.
  18. yeah it's really weird
  19. lmaoooooooooo did you guys see this? [tweet] [/tweet]
  20. He is kind of one of those pushy about religion guys iirc
  21. why are you randomly chit chatting (not about last night's game) in last night's game thread?
  22. i'm still a little peeved that georgie's ball didn't' get out
  23. for as shitty as we think zobrist has been, he's on pace for a 3 win season.
  24. [tweet]https://twitter.com/thekapman/status/723586540916469760[/tweet] so kaplan apparently had this idiot on...i love the universal ridicule and criticism in the replies
