After checking out Quiz's numbers I realized he had one of the greatest 5 year stretches for a reliever of all time from '80-'85. Quiz went 12-7 in 1980 as a reliever without even starting a single game. I wonder where that ranks on the all time list of decisions without a start. He was also unhittable on RBI Baseball. Elroy Face, Pittsburgh, 1959 went 18-1 without starting a game.
When you make repeated misstatements of fact on this board, you will always be greeted with what may appear to be hostility. Some folks just can't take being corrected. Oh well. And please, do not flatter yourself. You will not be missed in the least.
Since when? Good question JR. Maybe it happened in that parallel universe where Ozzie is a classy, open-minded genius. According to the figures I have, the Cubs have outsold the world champs by 35,849...in 4 less games. The Cubs average about 4 thousand more per game. stats My fault. I mean they will outsell them by season's end. But that's because of the playoffs, so it's not really fair to compare. My season ticket rep said the Sox have sold 2.6 million so far, and they're guaranteed to break 3 mil for the first time in the new park's history. Last year I thought I read the Cubs sold 2.7 mil. That's not even close. They drew 3,139,322.
Using a stretched out extreme example negates any value in your example. It's pretty interesting to note that in nearly everyone of your diatribes about what is and is not worthwhile, you use extreme examples that have no basis in reality. I use extreme examples because it easier to see my point. So let's use a real life example. The Cubs sign somebody who has a .400 OBP, and bat him 7th. He gets on base 40 percent of the time, but he dies on first because Neifi and the pitcher strike out everytime he is on base. So this guy never scores even though he gets on base a great deal. If you moved him to 2nd in the order though in front of Lee, this person would be driven in 30 percent of the time. Therefore, run production would go up. How do you account for the fact that Neifi Perez has arguably been our best RBI man this year ??? Percentage of baserunners driven in 04/03 - 07/18 BDI LOB RBI%
