  6. Just in case anybody missed it...... here are the CUBS' magic numbers..... St. Louis 36 Cincinnati 30 Houston 29 Milwaukee 24 Pittsburgh 17
  7. Here's some data you can chew on for a while. The CUBS are 1-5 when they allow more runs than hits........ This makes an interesting proxy variable for the ever elusive clutch hitting, but that's another discussion for another time. Anyhow, here's what I've got........ 9/15 R H BB HBP R/BR NY Mets 768 1325 482 57 0.412 Atlanta 753 1355 475 49 0.401 Philadelphia 773 1355 549 83 0.389 Florida 697 1310 449 69 0.381 San Francisco 679 1292 460 50 0.377 Arizona 710 1363 464 63 0.376 Colorado 696 1333 482 55 0.372 St. Louis 695 1340 475 54 0.372 LA Dodgers 730 1396 532 47 0.370 Cincinnati 699 1306 556 57 0.364 Milwaukee 646 1257 450 71 0.363 CUBS 632 1353 365 36 0.360 Washington 677 1300 543 62 0.355 Houston 655 1256 525 63 0.355 San Diego 649 1312 496 38 0.352 Pittsburgh 642 1335 419 81 0.350 Average 694 1324 483 58 0.376 Maximum 773 1396 556 83 0.412 Minimum 632 1256 365 36 0.350 CUBS Opponent 770 1293 619 64 0.390 Have fun with it !!
  8. Typical CUBS. Pitcher can't find home plate with radar, and we go down on 5 pitches. Go CUBS !!
  9. I have much better luck betting on the stock market. When I bet against the CUBS, the sob's win !!!
  10. That's too easy. Game 7 of the World Series; Wrigley Field; top of the 9th; Cubs lead the Yankees 11-2; two outs; none on; Arod hits a weak grounder to Lee who fields the ball about three feet from first base and a meteor hits and wipes out the planet before Lee can touch first base. P.S. Best wishes to the wife for a speedy recovery. Yep..... that sounds like my CUBS !!!
  11. The Apocalypse is surely upon us now that Fred has given up starting game threads, no worthless stats of the day, no PBP and now resignation. Da(ng) you cubs for ruining another year. A. I'm not about to get up at 0400 to beat AramisFan to start a game thread B. Been far too busy the last 2 days to play with the worthless stats thing. C. Would have done the PBP today, but I just got back from taking the wife to the hospital for some minor surgery. (She's gonna be just fine) D. I've been watching this crap for 50 years. Resignation is a recurring, but temporary, theme with the CUBS. No Apocalypse just yet...... but wait and see what happens when they start winning, eh?
  12. "The CUBS offense is a little flat today" ... Pat Hughes. Now, wouldn't tbat be a whole lot like saying that Atilla the Hun was a little ill-mannered ??
  13. Whilst that is the truth, compadre, I taketh this team being this bad, if it meant a higher draft pick for the Cubs to ruin. Somehow..... the phrase "casting pearls before swine" seems appropriate, no?
