Neifi was a demigod with a bat for almost a solid month. Yuck. Really? I don't remember that. I still stand by my opinion, however that Neifi was a decent 25th man. The problem was that he was used more that a 25th man should be used. When Neifi first showed up with the Cubs, for 23 games at the end of the 2004 season, he hit .371/.400/.548. And then he picked up where he left off and hit .368/.403/.559 in 68 at-bats in April of 05. Once May came though, it was over (although he did have a very good August of 05 as well). Actually, the Neifster had 3 very good stretches with us in 2005........ That's only 17 games. Fontenot only started at ss twice (as far as I can remember) and I can't recall Derosa ever starting at ss. If you recall, reading the previous posts, the discussion is predicated on games that Marquis started, of which there are only 17. But since you asked.... Without regard to starting pitcher........
