I was just playing around, and was amazed at how much that list changes if you change the exit velocity to 95 mph. Yeah, small sample sizes and all, you can't read too much into things. I only use 100 mph, because that's kinda the threshold where the damage really is amplified. The league average slugging % on balls hits 95-100 mph is .661. Bump it up 5 mph to 100-105 mph and the league average slugging % is 1.150. Regardless, Richard gives up the highest % of 90+, 95+, 100+. He's just horrible and guys hit him hard. I buy fielding-independent metrics for most guys, but once you get to the margins and get guys like Arrieta on one side and Richard on the other, I kinda throw those things out, especially on the wrong side (Richard's). Guys like Brian Schlitter and Clayton Richard look a lot better when you assume they do things at the league-average rate.
