  1. Meanwhile LaRussa and his ragtag band of misfits are at Fenway and then on to Detroit. Me may very well have a new 2nd place team by the end of the weekend.
  2. If he can avoid stepping on crackheads and hypodermic needles around The Cell, Im sure the smell of urine shouldnt bother him too much.
  3. how the hell are we still in...ah forget it. Lets hope the Home Cubs come out to play.
  4. When the other NL Central GMs learn to build better teams.
  5. A long as Hoff doesnt get sent down, its OK by me.
  6. It would be retroactive to today, since he pitched yesterday. If Edmonds and/or Johnson are going to be out longer, and if Zambrano is going to be out long enough to go on the DL, I think the logical move would be to DL Zambrano and call up an OF (I'd prefer Pie) initially, then send a position player down and call up Marshall when Zambrano's turn comes up again. No need to bring up Marshall before the day he'd start. Something might need to be done. Even if Johnson and Edmonds are day to day, we can only go so many days with such a short bench, especially when we wont have the DH the next 3 games. Also, Pie is just starting to find his groove in Iowa, and I dont think it would be wise to put him back into a platoon situation, and then send him back in a few weeks.
  7. Apparently, Riccardi doesnt realise that Matt Stairs, Kevin Mench, and Brad Wilkeson are on his payroll.
  8. was he the guy who loaded the bases and hit 2 guys or the 1 who gave up the grand slam? Wait, those were our guys. They really need to do something about the way they judge wins. It makes no sense that a starter needs to go 5 full to qualify for a win, but a reliever can get it with less than 1.
  9. I just wish horrible things on anyone that wore a blue or yellow wig or was responsible for all that clanking these past 3 days.
  10. Z on the DL would mean missing 2 starts, and Im OK with that. It would be retroactive to yesterday, so hed miss a game against the Orioles and a game against the White Sox, and hed be back to face the Giants.
  11. Someone start the next game thread so we can put this misery in the past.
  12. While I am in no way, or do I support fair weather fandom, I can understand it in this case. Its a team that came into existnce 10 short years ago, and aside from sighing a few washed up big names such as Wade Boggs, Jose Canseco and Fred McGriff, to try and fill the seats, they never relly tried to put a real team together, meanwhile, the team that came into existance the same year won a World Series almost got to another. I go to as many Royals games as I can. It is major league baseball. The Royals have been around since the '60s. Im asuming you grew up around them, maybe witnessed George Bret, Bret Saberhagen, Bo Jackson, and to a lesser extent Kevin Seitzer. Most Rays fans are older than the team. All they've had to this point is Aubrey Huff and broken down old Rocco Baldelli. Those that were true baseball fans must have had a team when The Devil Rays came around, somthey werent really going to switch over just because some new team sprang into existance. it takes time to build a fan base.

  14. This was just depressing. And I'm talking Elliott Smith Basement on a Hill Depressing.
  15. More importantly, it came at the same time the Cards got swept. We must all agree never to speak of this series again. Its was an exibition series, got it.
  16. All I know is I want to see more Hoffpauir, and I dont care whose expense it comes. We have to ride him while hes hot, and if he never cools, so be it.
  17. The Jon Lieber Reds game. Still, its not good for the momentum when you have another game at noon tommorow.
  18. http://www.news-antique.com/primages/rubyslippers.jpg theres no place like home, thers no place like home, theres no place like home.
  19. Cool show. Did you see the one bout the Blackstone Rangers, who tried to blow up the city?
  20. Say what you will, but I'm terrified about of the Crosstown Series.
  21. Len and Bob tommorow: The Cubs are the only team who has yet to lose 4 games in a row Len and Bob Sunday: The Cubs have yet to lose 6 games in a row Len and Bob July 31st: The Cubs have yet to go an entire month without a win.
  22. there gos the game, the momentum, and Marmols era. It must be well over 3 by now.
  23. If he can get out with 2 runs, I'll be happy.
  24. The Lee/Ramirez rally killing looks pretty big now.
