  1. He does. I remember a number of opp shots by Jones last season.
  2. Maddux isn't getting that extended corner for a strike. That's good news.
  3. are you kidding? he looked like he miss timed his jump
  4. Gonzalez doubles on a ball that should have been caught in CF
  5. The umpires were all aware of the comments before the game. They didn't handle the situation very well. Suntimes.com
  6. Maddux has drilled guys in the ribs before.
  7. LOL, I'm not convinced that Maddux wouldn't but I don't think either starter will. Maddux wont. And if he does, it wouldnt hurt. I think Maddux would if needed, but it would be at the players hip or ribs and no higher. There are times when it is appropriate to throw at some one but it is never appropriate to throw any where near someones head. I just don't see Maddux doing it because (maybe i'm naive, but) I think he has a great enough respect not only for this team, but people such as Lee that he wouldn't throw at us. If someone from the Padres hits us, it's gonna be a guy from the Pen. Maddux has thrown at hitters in the past so you can't assume that he wouldn't do it again. That being said, if anyone gets hit intentionally today, the odds are great that the pitcher will be out of the bullpen.
  8. prediction time, and I'm getting pretty good at it throughout these things. Hill loses his fastball up and in to lefties all the time and his curveball bounces near the feet of righties all the time. warnings will be issued before the game starts, at some point a fastball will get away from Hill up and in to a lefty, or a curveball in the dirt will nip a Padre toe, and he will be ejected. I doubt anyone will be ejected for nipping a toe. The umps have the discretion to not toss anyone out even after warnings are given. It will probably impact the pitcher's ability to go inside however.
  9. Obviously, Peavy was throwing punches in the pile and Perry must have been getting in his own shots as well (after the take down). Cubs.com
