    I know Arrieta has a longer track record than Medlen does but I keep thinking about the Braves-Cards game in 2012. He made 12 starts for Atlanta that year, all after July 31. They were 12-0 in those games and he had a 0.97 ERA over 83 2/3 innings. He'd given up 11 runs in those 12 starts but gave up 5 (only 2 earned) against St. Louis. Well, it's a good thing we have Jake Arrieta on our team rather than Kris Medlen.

    Someone talk me off my ledge, but I'm getting a feeling that the Cubs playing the way they are will beat Reds/Brewers, but lose to Pirates/Cardinals. Crazy talk?

    I had absolutely no idea that this Cubs pitching staff had more K's than 2003 Cubs. That's amazing.

    Entourage...the show whose idea of dramatic conflict is "hmm, do I star in this glamorous movie or bang this really hot chick? Oh I know, I'll go get my courtside seats at a Lakers game and then go get bottle service at a club in my Rolls Royce!" And on the next episode of Entourage....

    I just felt that team wasn't playing well going into the playoffs. Perhaps it was because they clinched pretty early and there was no urgency towards the end of Sept, but the team just wasn't playing like they had all year towards the end.

    If it makes you feel any better, Royals still would have clinched before Cubs had the Cubs beaten the Brewers in their last game cause the Giants lost later on.

    I know early in the season Lilly mostly just walked around the bleacher construction without a hard hat on. Not sure where where he's been lately. Glove Slamming Coach? My favorite part of that gif is the complete lack of expression on Lilly's face. He might as well be cooking breakfast.

    Arrieta has a habit of making games boring. Guy comes up to bat, guy walks back to dugout. Rinse repeat.

    I'll see names like Bogusevic and be like "oh yeah, I forgot he played for the Cubs," but I literally have no idea who Boscan is and not the faintest recollection of him ever existing. Those 2013 2nd half pitchers put up ERAs that looked like movie concession prices. Travis Wood led the team in WAR that year.

    I was at the last game before the all star break when Rosenthal blew a two run lead in extras in Pittsburgh. I have hope.
