  2. Well ... actually ... he's a less glorified version of Shawon.
  3. The sad part is there really isn't anything to sell. We'e not going to get anything for AAAA players like Mitre, Dubois or Patterson. Maddux isn't going to approve a trade unless its to Atlanta or SD, and they don't want him. Wood has to prove he can stay healthy before we can get anything close to fair market value for him.
  4. Choi might be a servicable platoon player. Bobby Hill is crap.
  5. Corey is like a bad stock. An Enron or Worldcom caliber bad stock. Eventually you just have to cut your losses and move on. Otherwise you're just flushing money (and at bats) down the toilet. If we're talking about value, I don't think a 15 for 45 "hot streak" would raise his value any between now and July 31st. I don't think his OBP skyrocketing towards the .305 range is going to cause the phones to ring off the hook. Organizations have enough statistical evidence to show that Corey is poor hitter, and a good 2-3 weeks is not going to change that. At the very least he should be benched. There should be absolutely no debate about that.
  6. The Rangers never really really considered themselves to be serious contenders this season anyway. They have plenty of Welly and Mitre caliber prospects in their system. They want/need a top of the rotation pitcher.
  7. There's an article in today's LAT that DePodesta has set his sights on aquiring Dunn.
  8. Dunn ran a sub 4.5 40 yard dash at UT. One of the reasons he decided to forgo football and persue baseball is because the UT Football coaches wanted to shift him from quarterback to tight end. His mobility is not a problem ... not for a left fielder, by any means.
  9. Dunn is anything but a "big, fat slug". He was one of the top football recruits in the state of Texas coming out of high school. He had a full ride football scholie with the University of Texas before deciding to go with pro baseball. He had scholarship offers from every big name football program in the country. As to who Dunn resembles offensively, that's easy ... Jim Thome. Jim Thome holds the AL record for strikeouts in a season, but he also has a career .400 OBP. Thome hit .977 OPS last year at the age of 33.
  10. Yes, as if changing a bad baseball player into a good baseball player were only as easy as solidifying a lineup spot.
  11. Corey's lack of production is already a liability for a centerfielder. For a corner outfielder, especially a left fielder, its an absolute nightmare. I wish there was some way we could get Beane to take Corey in a package for Kotsay, but there is no way he would take a $3 million salary for a .290 OBP player. Its only through a tools infatuated GM and a OBP ingnoring manager that Corey still keeps a starting roster spot.
