It must be Ryno week, ESPN.com has a puff piece as well.

 

Maybe the reason "puff pieces" are written about Ryno is because there is not a lot of bad things that can be said about him (other than the delusional rantings of Cubette of course). He wasn't a selfish player, his teammates loved him, his opponents admired him, his players respect him and he was never suspected of using steroids.

 

Other than marrying his high school sweetheart who turned into a philandering wench, the guy didn't make a lof of mistakes.

One of the things that I don't see people talking about on here is the possible ramifications to Wrigley Field. I wonder what a new owner is going to do with a staduim that had a block of concrete fall, and that is undergoing a number of different projects from parking to seat expansion.

 

One of the things that I'm worried about is that a new owner is going to say that the Cubs need a new staduim (or a rebuild on the old one) in order to drive new revenue, and it just might come packaged in "We want all fans attending to be safe". I think Wrigley needs some loving care, but I don't want to see it rebuilt or a new stadium personally.

Come on SouthSideRyan. This has nothing to do with the HOF. I doubt if Mark Grace is losing any sleep over the HOF. There's a lot of worthy players who are not famers. Ex - Ron Santo, Dale Murphy, Goose Gossage, one can even make an argument for Keith Hernandez.

IMO I just don't think steroids and corked bats belong in the Hall. But that's just me.

So what if Sosa is in the Hall. Those of us who can't stand him [ and believe me, I know a lot of people ] will not lose any sleep over it.

Hey Everybody;

it's been a few months since I last posted or even visited the site for that matter. The reason I haven't is that in April, I was diagnosed with Colon cancer. it's been rough at times but I know God will heal me and I'll be all right. Please keep me in your prayers. Anyway, I wanted to share something that Dusty did, that I'll remember the rest of my life. I can't tell you how but I got word to Dusty when the Cubs were in Houston, that I was suffering from colon cancer. Anyway to my suprise, he called me and told me to hang in there. He reminded me that he himself is a survivor of prostrate cancer. What a class act! To think he took the time to call me, it blows me away! Even before this, I was a big fan of Baker. I don't blame Dusty for the Cubs' season, instead I blame Hendry and the players. Dusty Baker should do himself and his family a favor and resign as Cubs manager-- the North Siders don't deserve him!
