  1. I don't agree that Marshall does not have the stuff and potential of Hill. Marshall's curve projects to be a little better long term. Fastballs are similar, with Marshall's having more movement and more upside. Marshall has the potential to have a much better changeup. Marshall has shown a history of better control and better groundball rates. Marshall already has a much better change than Hill. Of course you already know I rate Marshall higher. Who wouldn't rate Marshall Higher then Hill? Hill right now is a excellent AAA pitcher and nothing more and nothing less. Until he proves other wise it's a moot point.
  2. I had to laugh at that also. I was surprised how long he stayed there before he was asked (made) to remove it. Good job to whomever that was!
  3. wow, that's a lot of incorrect statements in a really small space. Well i'm pretty sure that's sarcasm on mg's part, esp. considering he's calling for Hill in the '07 rotation. you are correct sir. i am a big fan of hill's and get tired of hearing how he sucks and should be traded. i'm glad to see he's rebounded from his stint in the majors by being so effective in aaa. if the cubs had a decent manager & pitching coach, i'm sure he would do just fine in the majors. I think he knows how to pitch or at least he knows how to pitch in AAA. He just needs confidence. Maybe he's not cut out for the pressure of pitching on a major market team. I'm not sure what the answer is but it's obvious he's got nothing left to prove in the minors, so bring the kid up and see what he can do the remainder of the year or trade him. Seems simple enough for me...
  4. At this point you might as well pitch the guy.
  5. No offense but who really cares about the correct spelling of Derrek?
  6. And Steve Posted and Answered my Question: cubbiechris (chicago, IL): When are the Cubs going to let Dusty Baker go already? The team is a fundamental mess... SportsNation Steve Phillips: (3:08 PM ET ) Well, I find it hard to completely blame Dusty for the Cubs struggles. He hasn't had a healthy team all season long. They were built around the pitching staff and the injuries to Wood and Prior have crippled them this year. Throw in the loss of Derek Lee for two months and you can understand why they have struggled. Dusty is a great motivator and his players have always played hard for him in the past. I don't think it is Dusty's fault and I would give him another chance to see if he can turn it around before the end of the season. The Cubs might have to make a move at some point just because they have to make a move, not necessarily because Dusty is to blame for the struggles.
  7. Let's see who Dusty blames after today's loss. Either I'm playing too many kids or I don't have my full team back. I used to be a Dusty backer, but I'm done. I hate this team and I hate this coaching staff!
  8. The script calls for some runs here! Yep!
  9. Neifi with the hit! Alright now he gets to play for the rest of the week!
  10. Come on, you've been on this site long enough to know better than to use wins as a meaningful stat. Yeah, the Cubs and the fanbase doesn't seem to be too interested in wins. Hey wins are overrated!
  11. I remember the Mets a couple of years ago were a terrible team with a close to 100 million dollar payroll...
  12. As much as people here have been drooling over Marshall, his numbers have not been all that good this season. He's handled himself well, all things considered, but I don't think he's proven much more than any other pitching prospect in this system. I mean, for heaven's sake, his ERA is 4.92 with an away ERA of 6.53! That's just dreadful. I don't think drooling is the word. No one projected him as a number one starter. He made a huge jump from the low Minors and he's held his own. hill made a bigger jump last year, struggled a little, and has been written off by many. The circumstances were different last year. This season, look at Marshall's first 4 starts compared to Hill's. Marshall gave up 4/4/2/0 ERs while Hill surrendered 5/5/3/7 ERs. It's no wonder he was sent down. Like I said before, I think Hill will get another chance but he certainly didn't take advantage of his opportunities. Marshall has been inconsistent but that's to be expected. Unlike Hill, he's shown some dominance on this level; In 8 of his 15 starts he's given up 2 or fewer runs. that's not true. marshall gave up as many runs in his first start as hill did in his first three extended outings combined. hill followed up 4 1/3 hitless innings of relief with two starts of two runs allowed each. i'm certainly not arguing that hill's been better than marshall, but hill has shown flashes of success. his overall numbers in '05 were hurt by two horrible outings. Let's just wait for Hill to win a major league game before we start to hype him up.. and on that note, i'm done w/ this discussion. I figured that would be the back breaker.. i'm ending because a) i'm not "hyping" hill and b) judging a pitcher based on wins is idiotic. it's not because you "won" or something, so don't get too excited. Dude relax I'm just joking. It's not worth getting all worked up about it. We are both Cubs fans and I'd love nothing more then Hill to be the next Cubs ace.
  13. Its good to see DLEE has re-energized this club today!

  15. That and Radke pitched a great game today. Moved the ball around nicely...

  17. Cubs don't deserve this fan base...They really don't
  18. What a waste of 95 million dollars.
  19. As a whole, Ram doesn't hustle. I don't know how that can be disputed. At least his Defense has been very good this year.

  21. Marshall and Marmol could be on that list ten years from now with Hill nowhere near it. Very true and hey I hope all three of them pitch lights out in the Cubs rotation. You never ever know. Who would've thought Maddux would amount to anything based on his first year in the bigs.
