    :lol: some guy for the mets that just got called up hit one straight up the elevator shaft, in fair territory, and the catcher missed it so the guy was thrown out at 1st because he was just standing there.

    I know it's got him not making the hall and the '03 debacle in there, but I remember (haven't seen it in awhile) This Old Cub ending perhaps with his number retirement and being a decently happy ending.

    Chicago NBC or ABC had a thing on their ticker this morning that Rickets went to Bill Murray, Jim Belushi (that's the one that's still alive right?) and John Cusack for money to buy into the team.

    I was in the bleachers when Aramis hit #200, and somehow a guy new it was his 200th. The ball bounced onto the street and the guy went to the back fence and offered (i think) $50 to the guy that got it on the street. He threw the money down, and the guy threw it up. Cubs people soon came looking for who got it (I didn't think 200 would be a big deal). I can't remember what the Cubs offer was, but I think all the guy wanted was to personally give it to him and get a pic and an autographed ball or something. I think they were going to do whatever after the game so I don't know what he actually got. His friends were idiots though, and were berating him the whole rest of the game to demand something ridiculous like thousands of dollars and premium tickets.

    it's worse because the right handed reliever was ready in the Astros bullpen, so it was not going to be a favorable match up either way. And the lefty was walking people.

    He also started out the year pretty amazingly with the White Sox right after the Cubs traded him, didn't he?
