i was surprised by the internet reaction to last night's episode. "Wow. westworld did it again with another giant twist!"

like what really happened? Caleb is dead, except he's a host in a world where there's very little different between hosts and humans. His daughter is still alive. Oh Maeve is dead, except not really, she's actually about to be reunited with caleb again! and get this. They will look exactly like they did when they "died" because they dont age. that's nice. But William is dead. Oh no he's not he's just a host and tessa thompson will just resurrect him.

Spoiler: show
I agree with a lot of this. But you bringing up William made me think - the human William has to be dead now right? 29 years into the future? Unless whatever Charlotte and co are holding him in keeps him from aging. There has to be some payoff to his imprisonment right?

There was timeline shenanigans and Dark Dolores already having "won" and we're 23 years into the future....that's quite a swerve. It changes completely where the season appeared to be going.

I feel like the logic of this show is starting to unravel a bit.

a) How are the hosts importing human minds into host bodies?

b) If Charlotte is creating host versions of Caleb, why can't she access parts of his memories?

We saw the answer to "a" in previous seasons, as well as why those hosts don't last very long.

Well we went from plodding along to pedal to the metal this week. Weird pacing for an eight episode season.

I’m pretty sure I’ve forgotten 90% of season 3, because even now I’m confused about the timeline and who is a host vs still human.

There has been no officially announced renewal, and anything goes with HBO these days but....

Ed Harris, who portrayed William, said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the show would get "one more season," with filming expected to start in April 2023.

on one hand, im glad that the show left the island for the last two seasons and tried to tell a different story

on the other hand, it was really convoluted and bad. They should definitely not do a season 5

Somewhere around Episode 4 or 5 this season, I thought it was really promising. But I was disappointed with the resolution for the season.
Spoiler: show
For one thing - was that city the only one left in the entire world? Or were the sound waves from that one speaker controlling all of humanity across the globe?

Spoiler: show
I was under the belief that they had tons of them throughout the world, but there were dead spots. I don't know for sure though. Sometimes I think they make this show intentionally as confusing as possible so that people don't know where to even begin questioning it, so they just don't and accept it as is even though they only understood 40% of it.

Good point. Maybe its a hub and spoke system with the NYC one being the hub. It is interesting that we didn't see anything in the present outside of NYC, the virtual world Rachel and Teddy were in, the wasteland that Caleb's daughter and friends were and the Hoover Dam.

Meh. I would have watched a 5th season if they did one but I'm not really too distraught about it. The finish to Season 4 worked as a series finale, but I'm sure there will be an uproar from people who want to know/see the planned ending of the show.

I'd have liked to see another season, but I'm not surprised with how HBO is being all penny-pinchy.

Eh. I didn't watch the fourth season, because I thought the third sucked. Should I bother, at this point?
