Having to take a 13th for your 3OA a few years later hurts.

Hurts less than seeing what other guys have done.

So Kane and Toews they will keep to sell seats at the UC? Can't believe they want to stick around for this.

Aside from being bad, part of the motivation has to be inspiring those guys to ask out.

As good as they seem to be at trading, they could find someone to give up a 5th for Kane

It’s probably good that they are going for a full tear down but I’m just going to tune out the Blackhawks for 5-6 years most likely. Doesn’t seem like the NHL is a league you can fast track a rebuild

Actually the rebuild sort of looks like the last Blackhawks down period. After a long run of playoff teams they started missing the playoffs and tried to make moves shake things up and stay in the mix, even making a random playoff appearance once. Soon after they made the conscious decision to gut rebuild. So maybe 4 years? The Avs were terrible in 2016 and were in cup contention by 2020 and won it in 2022

Appears to be a salary dump trade for Hawks? Move up 13 slots.

two defensemen taken with their three first round picks. I know you want to always draft bpa, but they've got a slew of defense prospects and hardly any forwards. both defensemen also sound like they are at least somewhat reaches.

time will tell, I guess.

I think the Hawks mistake was wanting a high draft pick in this draft for DeBrincit. It limited the pool of potential suitors. I think they could have been more patient and be willing to take a couple of good prospects and possibly a pick in next years draft and they may have gotten a better deal. It seemed like they were very focused on picking early tonight for some reason which limited them to Philly and Ottawa as the only 2 legit trade partners.

I also think that a lot of Hawks fans expectations for what they were going to get for DeBrincit was too high, not that they got enough, just some of what I was reading and hearing was pretty unlikely.

Also, is DeBrincat a 40 goal scorer without Kane? Even 30? Not defending the trade but the fans who were expecting more are not being realistic

Pretty much all of their picks so far have been reaches based on the various rankings. These guys really think they are the smartest ones in the room.

Let's hope they're right.

There’s hardly any consensus on anybody past the top half of the first, these guys are 17/18 year olds.

Lots of smoke that Kane is asking for a trade on Wednesday.

Crazy how much talent the Blackhawks, Cubs and even Bears have traded or given away over the last calendar year

Rizzo
Baez
Bryant
Kimbrel
A. Robinson
Mack
DeBrincat
Dach
Keith
Kane?
Toews?

Massive exodus of talent in Chicago

I really do not understand the not tendering Dylan Strome thing? Couldnt they have at least signed him and have a potential trade chip at the deadline as opposed to just nothing

They’ve been trying to trade him for two years with no success, so the trade value thing doesn’t matter. I guess he makes about a million more than guys they’ll replace him with? But what really might matter is pressuring Kane to ask for a trade by getting rid of another guy he likes.

I think Davidson is in “tear down for the tank’s sake” and doing a really pour job of managing assets.
