Bears off-season thread 2022

Postby Old Style » Sun Jan 09, 2022 10:01 pm

Might as well get it started.

Give me Harbaugh with Fangio as DC please. Add in a competent GM and with next season’s schedule we can host a playoff game.

This would never happen. Dodds as GM could. Ballard would be blocked.

GM- Ed Dodds
HC- Matt Eberflus
OC- Kevin O'Connell (leaves Rams for lateral move for a chance to call plays)
DC- Sean Desai

or

GM- Dave Ziegler
HC- Josh McDaniels
OC- whoever McDaniels handpicks
DC- Jerod Mayo

Don't care what they do about President. I'd rather go different organizations for GM/HC, but these seem like easy pairings.

He was mentioned with the Frazier rumor, but maybe Dorsey as OC (especially if Daboll doesn't get a HC gig this cycle). Same E-P "system/terminology". Allen has grown with him. Try and keep Flip as QB coach as he seems respected and keeps continuity (and Fields did show some skills progress)

Fangio is officially a free agent.

I know Ballard in Phillips role as Pres/CEO will never happen ( obviously they picked Pace instead of Ballard), I doubt Dobbs would come too, TBH. It's just a shame this organization can't get out of their own way

I mean Ballard would also be a really weird choice in Phillips role if that's what you meant. I thought you were trying to create a football only role, but that's not gonna allow you to poach another teams GM without permission.

Plus, according to Olin Kreutz and Patrick Mannelly, Bears ownership are not fans of Ballard anymore

Honestly, with several years to evaluate him, he's pretty meh. I guess a step up from Pace, but he's way overrated.

There's a reason the Leslie Frazier stuff has leaked already. The Bears want a minority coach or GM and Leslie Frazier is a former player. They're gonna keep Pace, maybe as GM and hire Leslie Frazier. And they'll continue to be bad.

Based off of that schedule, put the O/U right now at 8.5.

Because he's knows Phillips should not be around football decisions like hiring Pace.

Yeah. So looking at this year's DVOA, assuming this week doesn't change results appreciably:

- WAS, DET (X2), MIA, NYG, HOU, NYJ, ATL are all in the bottom 10 in the league
- MIN (X2), PHI are in the 10-16 range, so on the good side of average
- SF, GB (X2) are in 5-10 range
- BUF, DAL, NE are all top 5

Packers, Vikings, and Dallas are in rough cap shape, and the Packers obviously have the Rodgers question. Like I could see Miami or San Fran improving substantially but collectively this already easy schedule has more downside than upside.

Should I read anything into the Minnesota duo getting announced simultaneously and Nagy announced solo?

all they had to do was show progress on offense. Not necessarily win a bunch of games, just score points. And they failed miserably.

Oohhh heeelll yeeaaahh!

Seriously, nobody likes to lose their job (been there). They'll land on their feet somewhere else though. Maybe not in their current positions / levels.
