The only problem I've had with the controllers is battery life.

That's insane. Kudos for not killing anyone.UMFan83 wrote:UMFan83 wrote:We Got The Whole 9 wrote:I was gonna ask if you had taken them apart to clean them. Haven't had a PS since PS2 and that's what I would have to do from time to time. The joysticks just get gunky and that used to do the trick.

I tried to awhile back and it’s difficult to access the actual thumbsticks without completely taking apart the controller down to individual pieces. I’m mildly handy but not handy enough to confidently do it and put it back together lol.
So I sucked it up and got a new controller. 2 days in and all the sudden the L2 button doesn’t work. I have no idea why I’m so snakebitten with PS5 controllers. I’m sick of switching them out every few months and had to vent

At least this time I purchased a 1 year warranty for $10, so this will just be a drive to the store for a replacement but still frustrating. I never buy warranties on anything, but in this case I figured I'd be stupid not to.

If its a system issue, is that something I can fix without replacing the entire PS5? I'll have to do some digging. I've read the L2/R2 triggers can have issues with the springs coming loose and the controller i bought was refurbished so my first was that this was the issue, but maybe it is the system.

No idea what the fix would be, but 5 controllers going bad is pretty nuts. I mean, it's not impossible it's just a lot of filth and/or bad luck...
What is the warranty situation for a PS5?

Re: Video Game Thread
Admittedly I'm becoming Derwood with making a diary of my life experiences pertaining to controller procurement, and I know I'm taking away from some riveting Football Manager discussion but I am so annoyed that I felt compelled to share
So I go to Gamestop this past Saturday (I know, that's my first problem) and buy yet another refurbished controller (and my second problem). Having had issues with a previous one I purchased at Gamestop, I asked them to test it on site before I took it home to make sure there was no drift. The woman seemed really annoyed that I asked and said their refurbished controllers always work perfectly, but I insisted. She begrudgingly tested it and there was no drift. I didn't think about making sure the other buttons worked, was only focused on drift. In addition, I figured since I go through PS5 controllers like crazy, I'd purchase a 1 year warranty to ensure I was covered the next time drift happened.
So I took the controller home and the first night I used it, I realized that the L2 button was not working (as mentioned before). Again I wasn't paying attention to her testing the other buttons so I cant tell you for certain she tested L2 and whether it worked. But I figured I had a 7 day exchange policy, I'll go in and exchange it like I have before. I get to Gamestop and the same woman is working. She remembers me and I explain what happened and she says ok, no problem. Would I like another 1 year warranty with this one? I said 'what do you mean I'm exchanging it under the 7 day exchange policy' and she replied that since she tested it (under my urging) I clearly broke it so I have to use my warranty.
I tried to argue back that it was not working the day I brought it home but she started to speak with me like I was running some PS5 controller scamming ring and trying to cheat gamestop out of controllers or something. I don't understand why this would not be an exchange as part of the 7 day policy. I semi-mad, semi-jokingly said 'so if I didn't ask you to test it, you would have just exchanged it?' and she replied 'ok now you are just acting very sketchy'. I asked her if I could return this one if I take it home and it doesn't work and she said 'no I will test it right now to make sure it works'. I saw her test it and left.
I looked up Gamestop's exchange policy and it says they have the right to refuse an exchange if they feel like fraudulent activity is suspected but what the horsefeathers? Feel like I was wronged here and screwed out of $20 for the warranty and eventually another $50-70 when the controller inevitably stops working again sometime in the next year.

I gave it a try. Seems pretty fun, though I didn't get terribly far into it. Didn't hook me enough to keep me playing, apparently.

We got a puppy (German Shorthair Pointer) two weeks ago and haven’t touched the PS5. I kind of miss it but I really don’t.
