I was about to say. You have about 3 more years of talking about Football Manager before you catch up to derwood

That said, I haven't posted updated in like 8 years, so recency bias says IMB is history's greatest monster

The truly fun way to play that game is to take the worst possible team (North Texas, UL-Monroe, or whoever) and see how long it takes to make them a National Champion

dark souls 3 is as good as it gets. it's jarring at first because there's no "jump" button like in elden ring, and it feels really regressive at first. But when you get used to it it makes the gameplay much better not being able to just jump away from danger

Yep. It would take a couple seasons, even undefeated, to start to get major bowl recognition, or more than a couple 3-star recruits not to laugh in your face, but it was fun as hell building a powerhouse out of a powderpuff. I sank so much time into the 2010 game. I remember using Buffalo, Troy State, UAB, and I would load up my schedule with ranked teams. Schools like UM, OSU, USC were hard as hell to play against, the talent gap was massive.

Yep. And you had to scout the 3-4 star guys whose #1 priority was playing close to home and pour all your recruiting points into them. Then on field, you had to control the ball as long as possible.

Like many I keep waiting for a next gen update of Bloodborne to re-engage with it, mostly because it would be wonderful to play at 60fps. It really may be the best iteration of the Soulsborne model.

If I didn't already own it, I also think grabbing a PS4 just for it would be reasonable, but I'm kind of a lunatic that way.

i bought the bloodborne one when it came out, and ended up selling it for almost 200 bucks on ebay later on

after a hard-fought 2-2 draw (I gave up 27 shots lol) away at Venezia Fashion Club, I am now firmly in 10th, sitting on 34 points with 13 league games to go. 40 points should keep me out of the relegation playoffs and the board only wants me to not finish in last so I feel pretty good.

the disparity in this league is so funny. My entire payroll is $3m and the top clubs fighting to make it into Serie A are dropping $15-20m in transfer fees in the January window. I'm basically running a USL team.

A Youtuber wanted to try to figure out where the "oof" sound effect popularized in Roblox came from and who made it and...well, this video goes places that would make this video fit into the "Eat the rich" thread instead:

Moral of the story: Self-proclaimed video game celebrities are terrible people.

Good stuff.

Also hbomberguy is one of my favorite YouTubers. Spotty uploads, but great content. Especially his "measured response" vids.

I feel like you should know you finally inspired me to dust off FM Touch 21(since I'm too cheap to grab the new one yet and too lazy to go with the full game). I picked Sochaux(FCSM) in Ligue 2, and with my 4-2-4 got them promoted in year one. Then they gave me no change in budget and I was starting a relegation fight(I was in last in December) when Marseille(who happened to be in 19th) offered me 7x the payroll with about 25 million in transfers and I could not resist. Unloaded a bunch of old/dead weight players while signing Gakpo and nearly got to the Europa league places by end of year(I'm glad I didn't, multiple competitions are the death of me). Then I went nuts signing guys on Free transfers by promising them I'd make the champions league: Tonali, Moukoko, Nketiah, even Sargent. Just finished that year and I only lost 1 match and semi-comfortably got 2nd behind PSG. Now to see if I can ensure the necessary depth, I really hate how much injuries mess with you when basically every week has 2 games.

sticking with my resolution to be more like derwood going forward

year 2 in serie B has been a GRIND. i started out losing like 5 of my first 6 matches because unlucky scheduling had me play 6 top 10 serie b squads right off the bat. I think i had one draw in there but it tanked my squad's morale. I came off my first serie B season expecting some investment from the board but I got none and am actually running at a deficit, so i had to just grab some loans and hope for the best. I have a couple good midfielders, one decent winger and one decent fullback.

I eventually turned to an asymmetric 5-1-1-3 because i couldn't link my defense to my forwards without a defensive mid. I briefly had some success switching to a 4-3-3 but i think it was mainly because i was catching teams off guard. that tactic dried up fast. I switched back to the 5-1-1-3, but this time I pushed my fullbacks up the pitch and told them to overlap with my wingers. Not sure yet if it's a longterm tactic or if it's just working in the meantime, but after a couple games of experimenting, i've scored 10 goals in my last three matches. Even with those ten goals, I'm averaging less than .75 goals per game because my only strikers are 19 year old 2 star guys who have good potential but haven't hit it yet. I'm basically running my strikers as poachers now, but it's working as long as i can keep pressure on the box (that's what she said.)

Right now I'm 9-12-10, in 11th place, and I look pretty clear to stay up. I've given up on hoping for more money from my board in the short term so I really have tried to consolidate my roster, get the young guys some loans, and hope to hit on one good attacking signing and then just pray some guys develop. It's been a fun challenge, but man I don't know how long it will take to get to Serie A.
