Our Catahoula has some kind of an abscess on his paw. It looks really nasty. The vet said it was an ingrown hair. He lanced it. I was worried it was cancer. I’m going to be a mess when he leaves our family.

My girlfriend's idiot dog (he's great but is a rescue and is hyper food motivated) didn't get put in his crate before they left the house yesterday afternoon and when I got there he immediately bolted for the basement, which told me he had gotten into something. This moron at half an 8x8 pan of fudge and proceeded to vomit and have diarrhea until about midnight last night and then woke us up this morning at 6:00 to go out again. He's a 60 lb pit/lab mix so I'm sure he'll be fine but we were a little worried last night. He's otherwise an awesome dog but that food thing is just crazy.

My girlfriend and I got a puppy. This is Lemon. Named after Liz Lemon. So now I can make a bunch of 30 Rock quotes about her. She's a Maltipoo.

The girlfriend bought her from a breeder we thought was in McHenry, since they were called McHenry Maltese... little did we know they were in Denver, they moved there but kept the name, so we had to pay for a puppy nanny to fly her to us. Extra expense, but the GF was willing to pay for it. She's slightly allergic to dogs so she wanted a hypoallergenic pup. That's gonna come at a cost, unfortunately.

I only asked because my wife would love a maltipoo, but I've not found any other reasonable way other than paying a ton of money to get one from a breeder. Not like you find them at rescues.

That bit of info was buried in their "About Us" page or something. I don't know. She was all about it, I just skimmed over the page a month and a half ago and saw "From McHenry County in Illinois" and stopped reading.

Real gripping story, I know.

What's terrifying is forking over $2000 to someone on the internet you've never met through Venmo and trusting they show up at the scheduled time with your puppy 2 days later.

They have a courier service, the person who flies with them carries them on the plane and keeps them secure, so it's not like she was in the cargo hold or anything.

Yea, I understood you were talking about some kind of courier, which I applaud you for. I was reacting more tot he idea of just throwing the dog into the animal hold in the belly of a plane, which I know some people do. I judge those types of people. I judge them hard.

or when you are forced to play "throw the ball" and other fantastic doggy games for hours and hours on end. What this really means is you can never leave this relationship. If you do, you lose the dog! And once they have their hooks in your heart you're pretty much theirs.

When my girlfriend, now wife, graduated from her Doc program I got her a cocker from a rescue place. I was living in Miami and she was living in Columbus. I paid to have the dog and myself flown to Ohio. I will never fly a dog again unless the dog can ride in the main cabin with me. The poor cocker was terrified and traumatized by the experience. We drove back.
