And I say that as an idiot who did not start using earplugs at concerts until just a few years ago. I really have to try hard to not think about the damage I've done when I have to fall asleep with something on/playing so that the incessant ringing/buzzing doesn't drive me insane. Like, it really doesn't make the music sound worse at all (hell, with venues with horribly mixed or maxed out sound systems, they actually help).

Take it from me: tinnitus is THE WORST. Never ending low-volume high-pitched Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee in my right ear. A lasting gift from seeing The Chemical Brothers in 2002.

Earplugs are the way to go. Park your ego and pride at the door, your ears will thank you later.

My ears while seeing My Bloody Valentine in my 20's right next to the horsefeathering amps vs. my ears today:

Yeah, my tinnitus is here to stay. Don't even know why it started, but it's just part of my day now

Mine is so bad I can hardly understand what I do hear. If I could only go back in time and tell my 18 year old self one thing it would be to wear the ear plugs while working construction and when hunting.

Yeah, and Old Style, seriously, it's never too late to start; it's really not necessarily a case of "the damage has been done." If you've been able to make it this long without decent damage, it still only takes one show that's too loud in the "right" way to horsefeathers things up.

My hearing in the right ear isn’t great but thankfully isn’t much worse. I survived being in front of the speakers at a Motörhead show, which was a HUGE mistake. But like I said I hardly go to shows anymore. I’ll look into those plugs before my next big rock show which may be a while.

Well, I did it. I watched that Everything Everywhere movie last night. I wonder if I would have liked it better in another universe, but it was .... fine?

Phew, glad I'm not the only one with Everything Everywhere All At Once. I didn't care for it beyond some basic things like an older cast. Not even close to one of Yeoh's best (this megastar was in gd Super Cop 2!)

OTOH RRR? Totally worth the hype, very glad I watched it. It was refreshing just to watch a movie without wondering how Disney was coding it, granted it helps that I just don't know the culture. Loved the music, the intensity, the dancing, the male friendship, the willingness to consistently show rather than tell...Also got out a kick out of 7 Women and a Murder, another foreign (Italian?) movie on Netflix, for it's pace and set and no frills, one shot story. Finally watched Raw, a much ballyhooed French coming of age horror, and didn't love it :dontknow:

I think the main thing I liked about it was
Spoiler: show
that I was all but positive that it was going to end poorly for her. When it ends with a more or less happy ending, it did feel weird, but at least it was different.
Pretty forgettable, overall, though.

"Knock at the Cabin" looks like such a freaking cool premise, but there's no way M. Knight actually pulls it off, right?

This is probably the most ringing endorsement of the movie I've read yet.

A disastrous biopic is infinitely more fun than yet another mid snoozer one.

Like three weeks after our second kid was born my wife let me go see jackass (the Johnny knoxville movie if the censors catch that) by myself, and I got really high and was completely delirious from sleep deprivation and a year later it’s maybe my happiest memory of my kids life. Who, to be clear, is an excellent kid.

Thinking this movie will be a similar approach.
