I wasn’t a big fan. It looked like it was better than it actually was, if that makes any sense.

Got into a horror movie podcast called The Evolution of Horror. The host is British, giving it a certain level of credibility. Anyway they did a whole series on vampire movies and put me onto a couple really good ones: Daughters of Darkness and Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary. The former's more than like a horny lesbian vampire movie from the 70s, not that those aren't awesome too. The latter's a silent part ballet adaptation of Dracula made in 2002 that I probably never would have heard of, emphasizes Dracula as a figure of English xenophobia, kept it short at ~75 mins, and is pretty damn entertaining

Loved The Menu. Really excellent. I'd wanted to see that since the first trailer and it did not disappoint.

Kind of the same for me. You have to just accept the ludicrous premise and go with it, but ultimately, I feel, that also causes it to feel a bit like empty calories once its done. I enjoyed the performances but can't believe I'll ever re-watch it. On the other hand I just re-watched Trainspotting for about the 30th time.

Everything less than $1. 1/2 Lobster tail .75 cents. Peanut butter sandwich 15 cents same as a "Luxury" bottle of beer. No Coke or Pepsi. What the holy hell is "Chop Suey" ice cream?

Apparently, it's just ice cream with dried fruit and syrup.

A lot of people didn't like Amsterdam. I really liked it, but it was a little too on the nose. Margo Robbie is something else.

It's mildly weird that in one year we got two over the top old timey farces that I couldn't stand starring a wasted Margot Robbie.

I went into it really hoping to love it, but no, not a fan. Which has pretty much my reaction to every non-First Man Chazelle movie, TBH. His movies look great, but holy horsefeathers, each one not about a real life astronaut might as well come with a neon sign that says, "hey, Hollywood; you are all special, wonderful, creative artistes, and nobody understand the STRUGGLE for your art....but I dooooooooo."

Cate Blanchett's extremely good performance in Tar wasn't enough to stop me from turning it off halfway through. I just could not finish it. Pausing it after watching it for what felt like an eternity and seeing I had another hour and fifteen to go was enough to make me call it a night. I'm sure there's some psychological trauma or drama involving past relationships or something coming up that they seemed to be alluding to, but Jesus Christ there are only so many scenes where Blanchett talks for 10-15 minutes straight that I can muster before I have to question wtf the point of the movie is and I did not want to sit through another hour + to find out what that was.

I attempted to watch Black Adam. I couldn't make it through the entire movie and I have a very low threshold for liking superhero movies. Johnson doesn't even appear like he's trying to act in the movie. He mostly just stands and stares at nothing. The CGI is awful and he looks grotesque. DC really needs to get their horsefeathers together. Hopefully, Gunn will be able to retool.

I mean, it wasn't anything special. I'll never watch it again. But it was fine for shutting off your brain and enjoying spectacle. I was more or less just happy to have Dr Fate in a movie.

Wasnt that The Rock's passion project that he wanted to make for years or something? Would be surprising if he just phoned it in.

Anyways I haven't seen a single DCEU film...none of them. The last DC movie I watched was the last Nolan Batman film. Every time I read things like this is just reaffirms why I haven't bothered to watch even the ones considered decent.

I've turned on comic book movies like I turned on baseball, but even if I hadn't this movie would have suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. Made it about half an hour in and fell asleep.

Yeah, the Rock was trying, but he's....not good.
